Your prediction on the future of the human race

If we're talking about human nature, then humanity as a whole is a network of those small relationships. Atrocities are generally the work of a corrupted few, not evil masses.

@Tora, no you are wrong
Intelligence is a product of evolution and morals are a byproduct of intelligence. The two are unrelated. Evolution does not care for rape or love. Evolution cares for survival and as much offspring as you can get. However, our intelligence has enabled even the weakest of our species (who would normally die due to the concept of "survival of the fittest") to survive.

Just because rape sounds aweful doesnt mean it CANT be human nature. Because in the very basics it is, and that is fact. Love is caused by the mix of intelligence and morals! And those two were both absent in the beginning

Not terribly relevant to the state of humanity presently, is it?

Oh I just love humanity,
The hundreds of thousands that died in Iraq, the thousands that died in the WTC, the thousands lf civilians killed in Afghanistan, the oppression of millions in North Korea, the resource hungy governments in Russia and the US, The crisis in Europe, The middle eastern countries which are now destroyed due to its own revolutions. The trillions and trillions spent all around the world on war, torture and exploitation.

And even IF it is only a small group of leaders, we, humanity blindly follow them, which makes us equally stupid.

What a bright future indeed. We should be in the Guiness book of worldrecords, because we are the only animal on this planet capable of destroying its own environment.

Okay, Woeler, you're actually wrong. Love is not caused by intelligence or morals.

Morals are caused by intelligence, because that is logical. If something is right or wrong, all you have to do is ask yourself if you would be okay if you were on the receiving end of the action. It's nothing but a product of pure logic.

Love is an emotion, caused by the need to reproduce. It actually defies both logic and morals.

Let's just think about a hypothetical situation for a minute. Suppose you live in an apartment, and there's a fire. Before evacuating, you have the option to save, say, 10 people on the floor below. Would you?

Now, suppose your significant other is on the floor above. Assuming you don't have the time to save everyone, which would you choose? One special person, or 10 people you hardly know?

Love isn't actually a good thing. It gets in the way of what we should strive to achieve just as much as hatred does.

Perhaps you a blind to the fact that you could be wrong. Have you thought that intelligence in itself is a product of our genes? When I see you post you continually go back to the very beginning. If we have acquired this intelligence than you must also see that what you try to say is human nature is no longer human nature. When man began to love and hate with balance than all this you try to say as human nature is lost.

They fear that if they stand against injustice and lies than they shall lose their life or worse they ones they love. What it takes is humanity to realize what their governments are doing wrong and fix it. Not sit and complain about humanity, but do something about it.

@Regulus, we might disagree about "what is love" (baby dont hurt me, no more XD)

No but seriously, if I say love i mean, really love someone and spend the rest of your life with them, which is unnatural. I assume you view the loce you describe as the plain feeling you get and express. So yes, that is an emotion.

Oh alright, I'll rephrase "the consequences of the temporary emotion of love"
Better?

@Tora, yes, human nature is and will always be human nature. We still carry the genes. We are limited because we are animals, there is no way to overcome them. Our intelligence suppresses them. In the end you will always value your own life the most, because when we get to the extremes, our basic instincts will take over. Look at the leaders of countries, in an extreme situation, and the basic instinct of greedyness takes over.

A simple everyday situation.
You love someone, he/she cheated on you, you get angry. Just look at the news websites, there is always a story of people killing because of cheating or other problems in relationships. Love by the brain, killing/ harming by the instincts, extreme situation. If we would love someone instinctively we would love them nomatter what. That is not the case.

So you are trying what? To get me out of an argument by complaining in an argument that I am complaining about an argument yet you are arguing with me. Makes sense

Nope. It is natural to spend the rest of your life with one person, at least for us humans. Why? Because it takes us so ridiculously long before we become adults, capable of living on our own. It is natural to want to spend the rest of your life with one person, or else we'd be extinct by now. The woman takes care of the baby, while the man goes out to hunt (usually with a group of tribe-mates) and, hopefully, bring back food. Any other way, and the chances of the child surviving in the caveman era are slim to none.

According to Darwin, marriage wouldn't be natural. The "love" emotion is only there for a short period of time. Enough time to make babies and ensure their safe arrival. The "love" feeling dies down for all humans who have to stay together. That's why marriages usually fail. What keeps marriages going for decades isn't "love" but everything else. Compassion, and so on.

Anyway, my point is it's not an emotion that is used to find a permanent partner. It's just to increase baby production and keep the gene line going.

^Uh, Just look at wolves. They live with the same partner their entire lives until death of one or both does the 'marriage' apart. If wolves can do it, so can humans.

Which is why I again said that love is not purely hormones in the head, like you claim it is: Humans would not survive if the parents came together and separate again in search of other people. The parents need to be instructively wired through genetics to stay together long enough (about 15 years) until their children are old enough to fend for themselves.
