No Stormy. It didn't work against the message, just like all the other episodes don't either. What about the two Rainbow Dash episodes? Rainbow Dash needed some humility in May the Best Pet Win, and she got it. No holding back. And in episode 8, she was being too cocky. She saved a few ponies yes, but a hero doesn't have to brag constantly. Another lesson that Lauren didn't hold back in teaching. The same goes for episode 9. Rarity made some new 'friends' and some bad decisions, but in the end she learned that she had to do the right thing. And she did by sticking up for her friends. I mean, if you became inexplicably famous, I think you might make a few hasty decisions. But regardless, every episode is pure gold and always conveys great messages for anyone watching.
While that is true, I don't think that the episode was as clear to the young'uns as it should have been (or at all, necessarily). Its intended demographic should be the ones able to understand the message, not only us older fans. While she seems to have learned her lesson, a lot of her lying and such went unpunished.
Well it has explained and teach stuff a bit, but you know i still think that the episode is good, not the best one though. Like PinkiePie said all episodes in the show are all well done. ^^ But yea i get your opinion on it SS. :3
