My TOP5:
5.) YOUNG GUNS 2:
Perhaps the best true-friendship themed movie ever. I also found two of my all time favourite actors by this movie. Emilio Estevez & Christian Slater.
4.) SCREAM (Wes Craven):
The only movie I still sometimes watch as excitedly as if I'm watching it for the first time, even though seen it countless of times throughout twelve years. Like, talking to the characters as if it's going to change anything... And the killer's motive is fascinatinga as is the whole background story and the Billy/Sid relationship.
3. ) THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (2004, ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER/JOEL SCHUMACHER):
The best love triangle ever written, (this film's version of it in particular.) The main character's one of the most fascinating fictional characters I know, and the music rocks my socks every time I hear it. One of the few fandoms I've ever actually obsessed about. And saw this four times in theaters. This sometimes switches ranks with number 4, depending on which mood I'm on.
2.) PETER PAN (2003):
I've been a fan in the fandom since I was 5 years old, and this movie had me fall in love all over again. In a way made the story even more tragic, but that is only if you know the main theme of the original story which this film sadly hides too much. Anyway, amazingly faithful to the novel, and a beautiful, beautiful adaptation.
1.) THE LION KING:
Another of the few movies in my life that I've obsessed about. Probably the one I've seen the most number of times. I was ALL about this when I was a child and to this day this remains my all time favourite because of its psychological depth and darkness, especially for a Disney movie. And this is beautifully based on Shakespeare's Hamlet, which I think brings another fascinating aspect to this.
I made a video with this list, though YouTube blocks it in like half of the world, but oh well...
Here.
