Feminism

I see where you are coming from, Tora, and I agree men do not need to lose rights, but women don't have it as good as you think they do, and sadly, there are many people who actually do think they can justify rape because the victim dressed provocatively. It's not just men who think it either.

True feminism is about overcoming all inequalities, however, like Squeely said. It's about making people accept that men are also victims of rape and are also treated unfairly in some cases as well as insuring women get equal pay and opportunities. It's about not letting anyone be treated differently solely on the basis of gender. Just because some loud people are being horrible doesn’t mean that's what it's all about. Westboro Baptist Church is not an accurate representation of most Christians, similarly the people promoting supremacy of any kind do not accurately represent feminists.

Let's please try not to get too heated, here, or I'll have to lock it already.

Most of us want rape culture to be dissolved because women are people who deserve respect,
Rape culture is a myth. Good god men aren't that stupid. Men don't rape because they aren't taught not to. They rape because they don't care. Any rapist who says they didn't know that raping was bad is lying. Humans aren't stupid. Everyone knows rape is wrong. Rapist know it too. They just don't care. Also if a man said she tried to rape me who would believe him? Probably no one. So what is he supposed to do? If he becomes forceful then its assault. If he just lets her have her way with him then apparently he must have consented.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA no. We only wish rape culture was a myth. Here's a recent example of it in action and what some women are doing to combat it:

And thanks for ignoring what I said when I said we are trying to get society to understand that men can be raped, and that men need more resources when it comes to it.
Another huge gender issue to me personally is ridiculous gender stereotypes towards both males and females in media/marketing. I've given up watching TLG, but for example, Zuri(?) was a pretty big aggressor in the premiere. Her entire "character" in it was literally a terrible sexist stereotype as far as I remember. I find it unbelievable that we're forcing gender norms like that on pre-school children, if you ask me a varied cast of either gender with differing personalities would be best. (MLP:FiM for example does a better job of providing a more varied cast, IMO.).
I hated Zuri's character in the premier too. Having a show that's aimed at one gender is A-OK! having a show that's aimed at one gender and portrays the few characters that are the other gender as harmful, sexist stereotypes is not

I'm interested in debating/discussing feminism with other feminists who believe in a different kind of feminism than I do. I am not interested in arguing about feminism 101 with anti-feminists, that's where it goes wrong

Welllll....

Anyway, I support feminism in its actual definition of equality for women. But the term feminism has been so bastardized by the extreme minority who don't know what it is and the people who look at what those few do and say and think that's what it is that I dare not say that anywhere other than here where the people who read that statement are actually smart enough to know what I mean.
I agree with OP because... Well, because it's just a fact that is what feminism actually is :3

And Squeely is right too I think, it's all about gender equality, not tipping the scales completely one way or the other.

@nilla: could you edit your posts instead of double and triple posting to make another point? :)

???

I didn't even say anything.

Merely observing that this thread is already a trainwreck and unlikely anything positive is going to come from it.

@Simbaholic
What I meant was that I agreed with you. And that I think the reason this thread isn't going anywhere good is because of antifeminists starting arguments, instead of having this be a place for feminists to discuss their interpretation of the movement. I realize now that i may have sounded rude towards you, I'm sorry.

@Squeely
That's a great article

and i had no idea about double posting, it won't happen again
You seem to not understand that men are privileged over women. Women are oppressed under men. Feminism is a female centric movement. It's like if you had two kids, one of them has 1 toy, the other has 5. You have eight toys, and you want to distribute them equally so you give both of them 4. now the one has 5 and the other has 9. The only way to make this fair is to take two away from the kid with extra and give them to the kid with less.

And yes men have problems too! but feminism is about females. No one's stopping you from talking about men's problems, just don't call it feminism, and don't use men's problems as a way of discrediting feminism. I can worry about problems that aren't feminist problems, men's issues being one of them.
You seem to be under the false perception that men are privileged. So to all the women in congress, all the women CEO's, and all the female leaders out there remember you're all beneath men by those standards... Women are certainly not oppressed under men in a first world society. They choose themselves to be lower. You completely ignored every point I made to simply say this nonsense. The kids need to share the toys period. Not one having more than the other or both having the same amount.

Also it's not rape because some dumbo sent a picture of his thing to some model. It's gross and disgusting, but it certainly isn't rape. No one gets to change the definition of rape because they don't like something. Yes crap like that needs to stop, but that is not rape.

--

The official definition of feminism is "the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities." How exactly is that just about women. And why does there need to be male equality group and female equality groups anyway? You want something done you work together not separate.
antifeminists starting arguments
Also I don't understand where you keep getting the idea that I am an anti-feminist. Are you that desperate to try and alienate me because I'm not female? Apparently if I don't agree with your feminism then I am anti. The logic there.

Women currently hold 4.6 percent of Fortune 500 CEO roles. Let's stop saying "women CEO's exist!" And start asking why there are so few.

Later you say that I'm making false assumptions saying you're antifeminist, but you saying women choose to be oppressed, men are not privileged and rape culture is a myth says it all. You don't have to call yourself antifeminist to be antifeminist
