Dude, before the movies I didn't even know the thing existed :ew:
And, using Harry Potter as an example, a movie should be enough to make you want to read the book. And if I wanted to see talking animals rather than a complex well-thought story, I'd watch a Disney movie.

I love those books! :D It’s been a few years since I read them, though.
And I must say I prefer the TV series rather than the movies.. The White Witch is so much better in the TV series, in my opinion.
