Would you rather be happy or wise?
(in this scenario) Being wise will not help you change the world, or make other people happy. Similarly, being happy will not make you self centered and hedonistic. This is self contained. It's just a matter of you knowing the truth about everything and being miserable because of it, or being happily ignorant. It's hypothetical. ;3
I my current state of being, I'd really hate to give up wisdom. I KNOW that I will be living in ignorance. But once I become blissfully ignorant... I won't remember. However, being wise and knowing all truths (including the truth that I chose a life of misery over happiness), wouldn't be worth it to me if you can't benefit and make others happy. So what do you do with all that knowledge? Nothing. Happiness is the choice I choose.

@LxL: Global warming hasn't been proven. It could be a scam by the governments for all we know. But I won't focus my reply on that. xD

I somewhat agree in general, although I don't really agree on the "I'm going to die, but I don't really care" part. Death is inevitable, so it's better not to worry about your own death and simply accept it. We should focus on making other peoples' lives better instead, and, in a way, that makes our own lives better, too. Give kindness, and you will eventually be given kindness in return. Nothing better than someone thanking you for your help.

This is like choosing childhood or adulthood to me. As children, we're carefree and happy, but as adults, we're wiser due to our experiences and realise what is going on around us. Innocence is replaced with knowledge as we grow up. Innocence is great, but knowledge is more important, IMO.

However, on Azd's scenario... I must agree with Cherish. I didn't think of that... Wisdom really is worthless if you can't use it, so you have nothing to lose.

I took it global warming, as a simple example that could change into so much evil that most people ignore ^ ^

however, I just prefer being the teenager I am today, who knows what's going on, who knows that in his country are killing a lot of people and out of it there is a world too chaotic, simply because things bad in life can not lose their place, a world of pure bliss would simply be empty.

I did not mean to worry about death like: 'I have fear of dying', but for example here in Venezuela killed a lot of people all the time, but that only care about the suffering these losses and a few others.

Again, I do not want to be an innocent child, I just want to live a life where you know what is right and wrong, know to do right and face the world, come as it comes.

Well, to have that wisdom on the stage of Az is perhaps at first sight so useless, as is the very fact of being happy blindly to wear a blindfold on and pretend that everything is rosy, I just feel guilty for choosing that option.

To be wise is to be prepared. To be prepared is to be wise.

Call it a cheap cop-out, but I would rather be wise. Why? Because then I will know how to be happy. :)
Knowing how to be happy falls under the conditions that define wise for me. So unless I am happy, I cannot be wise.

I think I misworded the question. Perhaps better is "Would you rather be knowledgeable or happy? For example, the Matrix. Would you rather be miserable knowing that the world was just a computer program and wasn't real, or not know and be happy?

Happy, please!
I don't count myself as wise, but I'm FED UP of idiots making me facepalm day in and day out. I've gritted my teeth so hard, I've started to wear them away!
I find myself being set apart from my friends (ex friends now) because they just want to do moronic things like drink and see random guys all day long.
I wouldn't want to be a dribbling idiot though and really, you don't need to be wise to know someone's lying!

After everything has been said, I still stand by my original order of a life of knowledge over a life of happiness. And the reason for that, I would rather use the knowledge to make multiple people happy somehow, than just be ignorant and happy myself.

^ I would have to go with that one, but since I replied to a scenario in which you could not use knowlege to help others I chose happiness. HOWEVER, if it is like the Matrix as another user mentioned and the world is not real, and there was NO WAY I could escape it (knowing all truths, I would assume I could know how to get back to the real world) I would be happy as using that knowledge for people who aren't real is pointless.
