Spirits, yeah kind of. I like to believe that my old man's spirit is still around. And yeah I like to believe a spirit will live on, the thought that death is just the end of an entire life, while probably true, is a little morbid IMO. And it is nice to at least try and believe in something, even if you do not necessarily believe it to be true.
This, I agree. And I'm the only one....o.o

I agree with Flip as well. The though of death being the end of everything is just too depressing to me. I like to think that my grandparents etc. are watching over me, that the spirits of all our ancestors are still present in this world. Like Mufasa tells Simba (in TLKOB, I might add), "They live in you, they live in me. They're watching over everything we see."

I think that they live in you just not in any phsyical way. There actions and what they've done live on in your memory and influence your decisions today. That's my take, anyway. They're completely gone, but their memory isn't. Nothing depressing about this, I don't see how everyone gets so sad over it :B

Yeah, well that's sort of how I interpret it as well, but I do think they're also watching over us :) I do believe that life is a gift one should enjoy while it lasts, but I still do not think death is the end. I think the soul lives on. I also believe in reincarnation...well, to some extent. I'm not entirely sure what I think about that to be honest. I don't know if that's a relevant subject to discuss in here anyway..xD

I don't use the term ghosts. But I do believe in spirits; There are spirits all around us and I feel them all the time. :)
It is nice, but I won't believe in something just because it's a nice thought. And I honestly do not think it's a nice thought. What does a spirit feel? Does it roam around the earth? Is it sad? I wouldn't have a clue.
I dont think you are getting my point at all, sorry.

But I will say this to you, if you do not believe in spirits, look up the definition of the word. Although it has many different meanings, it generally refers to the person on the inside of a body. If you have ever believed in something, then you believe in spirits, because it is spirituality that allows the process of belief to take place.
And if you still do not believe in them, consider this - you are one.

I don't think you're getting my point :B It doesn't make me sad or depressed at all to think of spirits as non-existing. So I have no reason to believe in anything of the sort.

I only believe we should use our memories of the dead to see what they did in life and let that help us and guide us through our own. Is that spiritual? Neigh, not really.

There is one definition I like, spirit meaning jubilence, will to live, etc. But I will never believe in the physical embodiment of a spirit.

I can't wait till KopaLeo posts in here xD

No I am getting your point perfectly clear, thank you very much though. When people say "It is morbid to not believe in afterlife" it is a metaphor for the emptiness it creates. Not literal sadness, metaphorical sadness.

Actually, yes it is pretty spiritual. Because you are using thought and memory and your ability to learn to do so.

Whatever emptiness they feel I do not.

Neigh, I doubt it. Plenty of people do this, just don't analyze it. It's borderline spiritual I'd say. And no need to get cocky with your posts, good sir...
