I was actually thinking about this the other day. Here's what I got so far:

The Decemberists - The King is Dead
Southeast Engine - Canary
Tyler, the Creator - Goblin
Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues
The Wilderness of Manitoba - When You Left the Fire
Chase & Status - No More Idols
Adele - 21
The Kills - Blood Pressures
Larry and His Flask - All That We Know
The Civil Wars - Barton Hollow

Yeah, there's a top 10, for what it's worth. Not necessarily in that order.

The King is Dead.

@Owl city, I haven't been able to listen to most of Owl City since he rereleased the Sky Sailing album. I thought An Airplane Carried Me to Bed had ten times the depth and character of any Owl City music. And it had some restraint; appropriate acoustic instruments instead of blaring synths. Most of Owl City (with a few notable exceptions) just sounds childish, overproduced and shallow in comparison. In my opinion. :3

Throwing in 2 albums from 2010, because I think they're honorable mentions.

Wasting Light - Foo Fighters (2011): When this came out, I honestly didn't know what I was going to think. Then the album came out, and I heard it on the first or second day, and was totally blown away. I'd definately say this is the best album this year.
The King of Limbs - Radiohead (2011): I think is one of the best albums this year.
(spot reserved for new Red Hot Chili Peppers album)
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy - Kanye West (late 2010): Definately one of the stronger rap albums in years, and possibly Kanye West's best album to date. The production might not be completely up to par with his other works, but that's kind of the whole fun to it, is the rougher production.
The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys - My Chemical Romance (late 2010): What can I really say about MCR that hasn't already been said? They really are great. This album really blew me away, with the directions that they seem to be trying to go in.

Gave The Decemberists - The King is Dead a listen. Amazing album, definitely one of the best albums of the year.
