Shun Yu of Mulan way quite beefy and he was a main villain. But I dunno, it is like the misconception that all Disney villains have British accents, they do not it just is by chance I think ^^... Or at least I hope.

Because fat in unhealthy.

I don't mind the look of fat, but the health risks are horrific, that's the reason I don't like obeasity and I think why Disney doesn't use it either.
It is not "ok" to be obease, you'll die early and get many things (health wise) that thinner people will not.

Now, I hate skeletons just as much (I was one for a while) but a thin, toned person with a bit of muscle is great, like most characters are shown to be.

Pumba also has many admirable qualities though really.

And on the other end of the spectrum, often the skeletally thin characters are the villains.

Hi, thanks for creating this topic. I completly agree with you, I really long to see Disney characters (or other animated characters) in leading roles that are overweight, if only slightly.

I`m overweight myself, so for me it would be amazing to see a movie with a Disney Princess (for example) whose waist isn`t so tiny her Prince can make his hands meet around it..

Thankfully Dreamworks has created characters like Shrek and.. the Panda from Kung Fu Panda (cant remember his name right now) and they`re both fat. I love those characters, lol.

What about the bald guy in Mulan? Who loves food. In the song "I'll Make a Man Out Of You" he can't swim. This was still classical Disney, and he was fat.

He was awesome, yes. But not really a main character.

As PrincessKiara says, Po from Kung-Fu Panda was discriminated against because of his weight but he still proved everyone wrong by using his eating habbits to his advantage in a new style of training and became the Dragon Warrior and one of the most revered people in Chinatown. I would say that's a pretty good overwight main character for you.

And even Simba gained a bit of weight between TLK and SP.
