I haven't seen the movie but I remember the video games, especially the very first Silent Hill game. ^^ I've always been a Resident Evil fan but my brother loves the Silent Hill series so when the game first came out, I watched him play it for hours. Back then, it was quite scary and I'd admit that I jumped a few times. ^^ Overall, the game series is really nice. The newest Silent Hill game on the 360 isn't so good in my opinion. That's just my tastes though.

Well, I myself prefer the movie, and if any of you remember seeing a tall, muscly guy carrying a big knife and had a pyramid on his head,(the red pyramid or pyramid head) , He is the one best portrayed in the movie. (He scared the lion king out of me!)

I haven't even watched the movie, but I've watched my sister play it non stop. I once tried to play but It was a little to big and scary for me. I didn't know how to play anyways, and still don't. lol As TS said, the 360 version isn't good, but it's not THAT bad.

I'm obsessed with this series - which is weird, considering I only have the second game, lol. But I spent an entire day [well, more than one day, actually] watching cutscenes and walkthroughs and stuff, so I think I know the others pretty well by now, lol.
The second game is terrifying - that walk down the foggy path at the beginning terrified me, and nothing even happened, lol. The second one also has my all-time favorite character in the entire franchise - Angela Orosco.

Oh man am I glad I found this thread XD

Silent Hill is just..indescribable. I love how the player is never told the full reason behind all the happenings in the town, and why the characters are drawn into the whole mess. Silent Hill 1 and 3 meshed perfectly as storylines go, and SIlent Hill 4: The Room, Slent Hill Origins, and Silent Hill Homecoming revealed more and more about Silent Hill itself.

Silent Hill 2 is by far my favourite of the series, and i'll admit it scared the bejesus out of me, and yes, I got the water ending, and I cried for a long period of time when James killed himself so he could be with Mary again :'(

And OMG the music is so epic!! Akira Yamaoka is a musical genius!!!!!!

MusicLion101: Oh yes, Akira Yamaoka is indeed a musical genius. He should really be more widely recognized for his work. :)

James is my favorite of all the game protagonists, because you can't quite tell whether he's a "bad guy" or not. It gets into the whole issue of forgiveness and judgement and I'm a sucker for that in characters
That's also why I liked Angela.

Laura and Eddie... not so much

And I like Maria because... well... she's amusing :P And she seemed to show a much deeper part of her character in the "Born From A Wish" scenario...
You're the same as me. It's easier just to run...
- Angela Orosco, from Silent Hill 2

Losty006: James is a great character, but the whole "is he bad, is he good" thing is also a trait with Alex Shepherd in the latest Silent Hill game :o
