I woke up today to find out that not only has Obama been reelected (something I already knew), but that California also passed just about every tax measure it had. So now not only am I displeased with the election results, I am also calmly informed that there is a high probability that my family will not be able to afford living here anymore, and will have to move out. This will almost certainly impact my college education in a negative way, so let me make it loud and clear:

Unless you want to send you an extremely angry letter, DO NOT tell me how great it is that someone who promised to legalize gay marriage got elected is a good thing.

Disappointed doesn't even begin to express how I feel like at the moment.

That picture lmao. Time will only tell if Obama deserved to get another 4 years. But for the time being, I like the guy.

Now that this is over, might as well prepare ourselves for the UK's one x) The next guaranteed election will be 5th May 2015, we may have one before then though. So it's quite far away. I'm Labour definitely. Conservatives are like Republicans, well, that's what I've always though.

Edit - Made a lot of typos lol -,-

Regulus: Problem with the Pell Grant: It's largely based on your financial need. I'll tell you what my financial need is going to be determined by:

My father makes about $100K a year. This is in the highest income tax bracket in California, so already, if you are in there, chances of getting a grant are LOW. There are 3 college students in the family, and one is out of state. Still costs a lot, guess what won't go into determining what my need is.

Plus I just checked their calculations for determining need: How much it costs to go to your college - how much your family can afford. My family can afford my college, but just barely. So guess how much need I will get? Yup. 0.

So excuse me for being worried about my future.

Did you read what I said? I can't get a grant even if I wanted to. And FYI, I already have a job: I'm a full time student. And thanks to the fantastic schedule of my school, I can't fit even a part time job in between. And when I do find some time in between, I do build planes, which I sell online. It doesn't pay much, and I use it more as extra learning for what I want to be my future occupation, but it does go to show that I am not all talk and no walk. I DO go out and find ways to help myself. And note how it isn't begging the government for help either.

And don't even get me started on my health, where what I live with is enough for most people to call a sick day.

And about seeking a minimum wage job: it might pay you something, but colleges don't like seeing you choosing the easiest path. It shows a lack of innovation.

Oh, please. That is ridiculous. I would be satisfied with my life if I earned a salary of half that. But, I am arguably one of the cheapest people I know, because I rarely buy anything I don't need, so...

But wait, I know what you're going to say. The cost of living in California is much higher. You also have two other siblings that are going to school. FASFA takes that into consideration.

Fun fact: financial aid isn't just for poor people. Even if you can totally afford to go to school, you will still get some money. Every bit helps.

Use this to get a rough estimate of how much, though I'm not entirely sure how accurate it is.

Depends on what college you decide to go to. Not every person needs to get into a fancy University, and in fact these days it's not even really a reasonable goal unless you have a lot of money or a lot of talent. I know people who got 4.0's in all of high school that don't have as much money that have to get part time jobs just to go to a community college to be able to get ahead in their lives.

Boohoo, you can't get a grant. That's really just so sad. It's life, you can't always get what you want. Be lucky your parents have enough to get you into a good college. Mine have to struggle to even put dinner on the table every night, so don't talk to me about your problems, because there are people out there who have got it way worse off than you.

I'll be very very lucky if I can pay for college when the time comes, with how tight money is these days. I can't even find a job in four different towns. I need to switch schools due to some issues with the school I'm in now, we can't even afford to put me in a different Public School. I'm sick constantly because we cant afford a check up at the doctor's. We can barely afford food right now, and gas money? forget about it. I didn't have any dinner last night. All I had was a small amount of mashed potatoes and some gram crackers, hardly a meal. Y'all are very lucky so I think y'all should stop whining and be thankful that you've got a job and you've got dinner on the table and you can pay for proper schooling. I'd do anything to have what y'all have, believe me.

Being a "full time student" isn't a job and neither is selling planes or whatever you're doing. Working a job means getting up at 6 am, working your ass for 6 hours, and getting your paycheck in the mail two weeks later.
Newsflash: some students in this country balance a job, sometimes two, with their schoolwork, just to feed themselves at the end of the day. If your schoolwork is really so much as you say it is, take a year off to work until you earn the money to study again.
Minimum wage jobs show a "lack of innovation"....? I'm sorry that there are not enough high-paying jobs out there for superior people such as yourself. Good luck getting anywhere with that attitude.

Building planes is a job...it may not be good-paying, but it IS a job-you work then get paid for your work. That's a job. And it's smart to build planes if that's what you're going to do in the future. DGFone-you should move to Huntsville, AL, LOTS of stuff to do here concerning aerodynamics, airplanes, anything having to do with airplanes :D
