Harry Potter films to disappear by 2012? Avada Kedavra @ WB

Postby FlipMode » October 26th, 2011, 10:15 am

Warner Bros announced that from 29th December they will no longer be shipping any of the Harry Potter films, which is bad news for fans and also means we have only one month to complete the collection (by getting the box set or the final film DH Part 2)
Opinions?

I heard about this yesterday and honestly don't know what to think =/ I have them all on DVD anyway and intend to get DH2 as fast as I can, but I feel bad for the next generation of fans who will start reading the books in say, a year or so. I can't imagine reading the books and then not being able to purchase the films. That would be horrible for fans of all ages. Plus, this type of thing encourages people to download films illegally, it happens with Disney films all the time.

The only reason they would do it for just a month is that they are planning something next year. If they stop production/shipping etc they are idiots, the amount of money they would gain would be a stupid amount and the fans would kick up a riot. So unless they want a load of torch barring potterheads at the door, they better not end it after a month

I also agree with Ad, it will force people to download, that has the chance of getting you caught (especially since its a major franchise) and arrested and prosecuted, your hard drive searched and everything. However people will and I understand why

But Disney do it to their entire catalogue, and they have a huge, massive and vast list of titles that the practise can apply to (if every Disney film ever released was still being shipped, the shelves would be full of them all).
I appreciate that it is all to make money off re-releases and special editions but it still sucks that they would willingly mistreat fans of the franchise like that,

This is the only reason I was so sceptical to TLK3D, I don't like companies doing this kind of stuff, even if it does work for them its still just pure greed.

Okay, I'll admit I have all of them downloaded except for Deathly Hallows Part 2. But the only reason I'm such a big downloader is because my dad says that I'm not allowed to buy movies anymore since we can get them for free.

However, I do think this is silly!!! In the future I had planned on collecting all the DVD's of Harry Potter and now I guess I can't do that...The only ones I have are Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban.

Anyways... My point is... this is a silly decision. VERY silly.
