Darwing

Age: Approximately 4 years old, still fairly young, if a full-grown adult.

Parents: Aimara (mother), Bor'red (step-father)...biological father unknown.
Siblings: Various half-brothers and half-sisters, yet to be named.
Mate/Love Interest: None

Appearance: It's kinda hard to describe Darwing without a picture, as dragons come in just about every form imaginable, but let's see...

Darwing is a quadrupedal dragon, and stands about 6 feet (180cm) tall at the shoulders. From his nose to the tip of his tail, he measures around 22 feet (670cm) in length, and his wingspan, fully extended, is just under 30 feet (915cm). Said wings fold at multiple points to allow their span to fold comfortably at his sides when he is not in flight.

Darwing's entire body is covered with bright yellow, overlapping small scales, save for the wings and his underbelly, where the fire-resistant, moderately dark grey leathery skin is exposed. Pale horns sprout from his triangular head, above and behind his firey orange, cat-like eyes, and black, razor-sharp claws adorn his feet, 3 digits to his hind feet, and 4 to his fore feet, including one thumb-like claw on each fore foot. His tail is unadorned, and simply tapers out to a soft point, no claw or feature of any kind adorning the tip.

Darwing's rough upbringing has given him a slim, muscular physique, and his love of flying has graced him with particularly well-developed wing muscles. He is quick and agile both on the ground and in the air because of this, and far faster and nimbler than the rest of his clan.

Personality: Despite the fierce reputation dragons tend to have, Darwing almost complete fails to live up to the wise, yet proud and menacing stereotype. His upbringing in a clan that did not want him around has left him shy, insecure, and quite frankly intimidated by most other dragons. Only Aimara's love was able to rescue him from retreating completely within his own self-imposed shell. There is a hint of a strong, proud dragon hiding behind the timid mask, but it will take a lot to bring it out in the open.

Because of this, Darwing has developed a particular fondness for seclusion, and tends to spend most of his time flying, avoiding any interaction with others, eliminating the risk of being ridiculed. He has long since gotten over the lonliness such seclusion has caused, but still can't help but wonder if there is anyone out there who will ever accept him for who he is, aside from his mother. He dreams of finding a place where he'll be accepted, but his upbringing has left him rather pessimistic, convinced that all his hopes and dreams will never come true. He sees little hope in his future, having never had any reason to believe things will ever turn out right for him.

Despite being strong and well-developed due to his rough childhood, Darwing's fighting skills are minimal, as he has been the victim of violence too many times to have any desire to instigate it. He is a skilled hunter, having been forced to learn to fend for himself from a young age, but is a bit of a pacifist, and when battling his other dragons, instinct and luck is going to be all he has. He'd much prefer to run fron any incident though, or failing that, try and talk it through without resorting to violence.

History: Although Darwing doesn't know it, he was actually the sole egg produce by a brief affair his mother had with another dragon, but through sheer coincidence was part of a clutch of eggs produced by Aimara and her mate, Bor'red, hiding this secret from almost everyone...including himself. But, since his biological father was a difference sub-species of dragon to his mother, he is unique amongst his clan, considered a runt, a mutation, and amongst the most superstitious and panicky of his clan, a curse.

From hatching, his father all-but disowned him, and the only thing that saved the clan from executing him as a hatchling was his mother fiercely defending and protecting him, to the point where the clan eventually let him live, even if they never truly accepted him.

Darwing grew up tormented and ridiculed by almost every other dragon in his clan. His father loathed him, his siblings ignored him, and the rest of the clan went out of their way to make his life as miserable as possible, though his smaller size allowed him to flee with ease whenever anyone tried to attack him. Only his mother ever supported him, and she always tried to make up for the lack of affection he had been given, becoming the one dragon in his life he could count on.

But as he reached maturity, the clan's attitude only worsened, and after several attempts on his life, Darwing knew he could not stay any longer. Aimara could not abandon her family over just one child, and as such Darwing knew that his self-imposed exile would leave him completely alone. What he did not know was that Aimara's affair had been with a dragon of a foreign clan, one that he may yet stumble across...
