Hello there, my name is ArcticNoir.

I would like to introduce myself, I am an English, University student studying a Bachelors in Film Studies, and as part of my course I have chosen to undertake Media Fan Cultures as a unit. For this unit I am undertaking research into a fan base, I have chosen The Lion King fandom to investigate, as it is a fan base which I have much interest in, as I belong to it myself.

3. I first watched the Lion King when I was about 3 - 4 years old.
4. I consider 2010 to be when I became part of the Lion King fandom.
5. I read Lion King fan fiction as I like to see how people take the original characters and characters of their own and show them interacting with each other. I am particularly interested in the way people create their own family trees of the original characters and their own.
6. I used to draw fan art a long time ago and have no available links to show you, I have a few OC's floating around and hopefully will find them and post them on here in time!
7. I joined this site as it is an active Lion King community and wanted to partake in research.
8. I consider you a fan of the Lion King if you have seen and enjoyed the film.

3. When did you first watch the Lion King? In theatres, when it first came out, when I was 2 years old.
4. When do you consider the date you joined the Lion King fandom? Hmm. Probably around when I joined this forum? Around the 29th/30th of October in 2011. Although, I have loved TLK ever since I first watched it, and have often drawn the characters and bought merch when I could.
5. Do you write or read fan fiction, If so why? Both, because I think it's fun to read and write, and speculation about the characters and their motivations behind things is very intriguing to me. I love seeing the stories about semi-canon characters, and even more so the ones explaining Scar's and Zira's... evil.
6. Do you draw fan art, if so do you have an original character? Yes and yes. I have many fan characters. Some of my fan art and fan characters can be seen on my FAA profile and the rest on my deviantArt that is linked from there.
7. Why did you join this site? For the FAA, I wanted to register my fan characters on the site. Now I pretty much live on the forums though.
8. What do you consider to be necessary to be a fan of the Lion King? I think you have to have seen and enjoyed at least one of the three films and like it enough to consider yourself a fan.

- I was 7 years old when I first watched it. I was in my music class back in elementary school and my music teacher showed us the film since we used to sing a lot of the songs, especially "I Just Can't Wait to be King" and "Hakuna Matata".

- Around 2008-2009.

- No, I don't for both of them.

- Same as fan fiction. I don't draw fan art.

7. Why did you join this site?

- After I watched the original film again 5 years later after my first experience in elementary school, I fell back in love with the film so much and I never knew that it had two sequels, so it wasn't until I was 12 when I saw Simba's Pride for the first time and I came to love it just as much as the original. After that, I saw 1.5 and I thought it was okay at first, but as I continued to watch it more and more, I began liking it less and less since it's not even close to the first two films. I wanted to talk to other fans out there about the films and express my thoughts on any topics that I write here. I'm glad I did and over the years, I made a lot of friends and got close with the site. I'm a huge Disney fan, so this was a good place for me to crash-land.

8. What do you consider to be necessary to be a fan of the Lion King?

- For anyone who enjoys at least one of the films, they are most defiantly welcome into the fandom and we all have different ideas and opinions about what we appreciate about them. If you enjoy them and have some kind of attachment whether it's average or super, then you are a fan. ^^

In 1994 when it was Given it's first wide release in theaters. I was 18

I stated interacting with my fellow Lion King Fans via the internet in 2004

Sometimes, I just enjoy reading Lion King stories, more so if they try to fit into existing continuity. I have written one fan fiction, but it is not exclusively Lion King. Although Lion King does play a very large roll in it.
6. Do you draw fan art, if so do you have an original character?
I can not draw.
7. Why did you join this site?
To talk about Lion King with my fellow Lion King fans. It takes the burden of discussing The Lion King with me off my family for the most part. That and The Lion King Forum I belonged to before this is now defunct.

You have to at least like the movie, or something relating to the movie (Such as the music).

I originally joined this site to join in the conversations about this classic Disney movie, and to talk to people who were also interested in it.

To rightfully call yourself, I believe that someone has to love (not like, love!) at least one thing from it, whether it be one of the films, the music, or even the Broadway show.
