"Again Kovu, try again!"

Kovu sighed as he let Nuka tackle him to the ground again. Nuka seemd to be enjoying this a little too much...

"Kovu! Don't just sit there, how can you expect to kill Simba when you can't even defend against your own brother?!" Zira growled.

She looked around in frustration, and finally left to hunt what was left in the dying outlands, looking for some way to vent her frustration from trying to train her chosen son. Nuka ran after her, trying to impress her, ever jealous of his brother's title of being the chosen one to succeed his father. Kovu remained on the ground, groaning from the pain of being tackled by someone twice his size. The least his mother could have done was let him practice with Vitani, they fought all the time. He sighed and stood up, heading back to the dismal colony that he called his pride.

The sky is red, the ground dust, and the food, scarce. This is the Outlands, and for the rest of their youth, Kovu and his siblings have been outcasted here, leaving them to train, to wait, and to survive. What really happened after that fateful night, and after that day that Kovu met his first Pridelander, Kiara? How did Kovu, his mother, the Outlanders, come to be? Based off of the second Lion King Movie. Takes place during the youth of Kovu, leading up to his mission of regicide. Feel free to alter the story line from the movie, but keep it reasonable.
