Riven was born the son of a pride lioness and a rogue. The coupling was somewhat frowned upon, seeing as how rogues tend to be. His mother was a rather shy lioness, a-bit distant from the others.
Riven was born in a litter of three, he being the second born. He and his siblings were raised communally by all the lioness. For a long while, Riven believed himself to be the son of the king; he was never told otherwise.
Riven and the other cubs all learned how to care for themselves and the pride. Riven himself learned well, be that after getting himself knocked around.
It was when Riven was nearing his second birthday that he and his older brother were exiled. Riven was devastated and confused. Their mother informed them that all was tradition. If the sons of anyone other then the king's sons remained, they may pose a threat when they aged.
Riven and his brother, Luca, set out together. At first, the plan was to start their own pride. The brother found themselves drifting apart in their ambitions. Riven wanted less and less to do with his brother's plans. The pair when their separate ways.
Riven looked to a pride that may take him in. He did not want to rule or be a rogue.

Hastega was brown the seventh daughter of a King and his queen. She had 4 elder sisters and 3 elder brothers; she was last in line for the throne.
Hastega and her siblings were generally kept away from the other pride members. Raised to reject the life of the commoner. Hastega herself was taught predominately how to fight, not so much how to hunt.
Once she reached two years of age, her father gave her the news that she was engaged to the prince of another pride. She accepted it as her father's wish, and asked if she could go alone to see the prince herself. Reluctant, her father allowed is.
Hastega did meet the prince, but came to find that the prince had fallen for a commoner. She was disgusted by the show of affection for one of the lower classes, but accepted the prince's request that she leave.
Hastega took up the life of a rogue, finding it pleasurable for the time. She did not have to adhere to the strict ways of the royal, and even came to understand the commoners. After a time, she began to search for a pride.
