Kinda like what Iri said.

I would try and go for something that has not been run into the ground with plots.
And you ought to write about what you like, not what others like.

Like me.
I like books that carry lots of details, subtle things. They give detailed surroundings, but don go overboard, leaving room for the reader to be able to imagine it in their own head. I like dark settings, to keep things in an urgent tone, (but not have the whole things be this) have lighter moments, humour, sarcasm, and don't grind anything.
Try and think of twists that the reader would not expect, but something you agree with doing. Get a rough plot worked out and follow it. (you're bound to change it up some as you go along) but try to as a whole follow the plot you want.
Like me, my character Rien. He has a wip story being written, it ties into Sarah's book series Seekers (I help edit these books) yet it also going to remain his own story.
It starts in a dark setting,it has lighter moments sprinkled in, so the dark tone is not a grind, it has tense action scenes (those you want lot's of details. Try to explain it in a semi slow motion way, to show the viewer what is going on during this event. So they see what they should be seeing in a fight scene.
Have a personality for your character, show their strengths and weaknesses. (harder to do when your char being with no memories though) hinting how my plot starts.

So in all, you need to know what type of story you are trying to tell.
Adventure (this has about everything in it)
Romance
Comedy
Action
Crime
Mystery
Horror
the list goes on...

Then what you want your char(s) to do in the set up you chose, what the plot is basically. (I would write a summary of what you want and try to stick to that) but fill in any blank you may come by with in detail story best you can.
I have Rien starting out having no memory, getting some of them back as it goes along. He learns he himself is seeker (this was a detail I had no info on explaining until I got to that point) learns of them, but keeps a promise to do all he can for a world before he joins them. (the jist of his story, him keeping his word) during this lots of things happen, that I don't wanna go into deets over since they are spoilers.

I hope this helps!

Are you talking about actual prompts and ideas or traits that make a story interesting?
