Edit: Not to forget we only have until the 21st of September to get 100k people to sign the petition. (Which is going good at the moment, almost 20k people signed in 2 days so if this goes on it shouldn't pass. 
SOPA is back and apparently worse than before =/

Also: There is rumour (talk) that a version of SOPA was already passed a year or so ago. This may be true however it should be said that despite that YouTube as actually become more lapse in their violations rules. Most companies are okay if their names are merely forced on the video description so people cannot claim the rights to it. I've had several videos now with some copyrighted music which weren't removed. The only thing that happened was the video was blocked in a few countries and the company either owned the rights to the video or they forced their name into it somehow. (Usually in the video description).
Either way... this is indeed a nasty bill; passed or not the threat of it coming about is no joke. It could very well destroy the internet as we know it. It won't just stop thievery, it will shut down a lot of innocent sites such as dA. dA's policy of 'Fan works' isn't as strict as it could be BUT it's in accordance to the preexisting laws surrounding copyright. SOPA could essentially looked past that and stull shut dA down for MANY violations.
Same with YouTube and a lot of other websites.
That's all I have to say on the matter. I won't know a whole ton about this anymore; the story and such has changed to much over a year it's hard to keep track of. So, if you know more feel free to share what YOU know in the comments!
