It was only when she was alone that the little outlander known as Vitani would allow her mind to drift, thoughts filled with mismatched memories of a happier time. A time filled with love, comfort....and most importantly; family. A father, a mother....and a sister who cared for her dearly, largely contrasting those whom she currently lived with. Zira all but ignored her, unless out for a hunt, Nuka was wrapped up in his own envy and Kovu....well, Kovu was okay, but he was far too naive to really count as a companion.
And then Vitani would shake her head, banishing her picture perfect world from her mind. The outlands were her home. They always had been. It did no good to dream of a family that never was, or could be. ------------------------------------
This picture. Took me. ALL DAY.
Or at least three or so hours; I've lost count. Even now, I'm not entirely satisfied with it, but it'll have to do.
This is by far my favorite of the '100 picture challenge.' I love exploring the idea that Vitani is ALSO the child of Simba and Nala....even though she believes her earliest memories to be nothing more than dreams.
