Kapuki was hunting, guarding the borders when she turned around and spotted two lionesses trespassing. "Hey!" Kapuki barked. She hustled over to them, eyes blazing. "Who are you and why are you on my territory?" "Oh, so sorry. We must have missed the scent," the taller one said. "My name is Petrine. This is Kalei." "Sorry to have trespassed," Kalei added. Kapuki grunted. "Just get out and stay out. Most trespassers don't bother to apologize, so I'll let you off this time." "But wait. You look... stressed," Koddi said. Kapuki grunted again. "It's nothing. Why should I tell you? You could use the information against me." Kalei looked at Kapuki, her eyes narrowed. "We don't belong to any pride." She was speaking the truth- she and Petrine were on their own. Kapuki growled. "Fine. If you swear not to tell anyone, my sister is ill and my mother is expecting cubs. Now leave." Petrine stepped up. "We could help you. Tell us your name, please." "Kapuki." "Humph. Well, we could always help. But if you're too stubborn to accept help, then... so be it."
