"Hello, Kapuki." Kapuki spun around. "Petrine. You." "That's not a nice way to greet your old friend," Petrine replied. Kapuki glared at the lioness. "This isn't time to chat, Petrine." "Sorry, Kapuki. But why not?" "Because I'm busy," Kapuki replied. "Father wants me to hunt to feed my mother. She is expecting." "You know, your mother and father don't care about you," Petrine said. "I've noticed. Father cares more about land and territory than he does our family. And Mother does nothing about it," Kapuki said. Petrine smirked. "Don't be upset, Kapuki. Shujaa is just favored and spoiled and-" "Shut your muzzle!" Kapuki snarled. "My sister is not the issue, Petrine! It isn't Shujaa's fault! She isn't treated any better than I am." "What about your unborn sibling?" Petrine smirked. "She'll be favored over you and Shujaa." "Be quiet!" Kapuki snapped. "My unborn sibling has nothing to do with this." Petrine growled and the two lionesses glared at each other. Kapuki was angry that Petrine dare ill-speak about Shujaa and her unborn sibling... Petrine was furious that Kapuki was too defensive for her own good... she needed to find another way.
Absolutely horrendous cliffhanger. I am awful at writing. Which is funny because I actually am planning on publishing a book one day.
