So... I was workin on this since the 11th off and on. Was originally just gonna be Shani, but then Herne suck his way into the image and began pestering Shani. Why he's doing this, your answer is as good as mine honestly. From what I can tell, Shani is no fan of Hunters. Herne... you are not being intelligent right now... so please, stop.
Herne's definitely unlike any other hunter, but I don't Shani cares about those technicalities. Had some weird dream they met, she captured him, then he began pester mode. This was the night after he snuck into the image, btw. Sad I don't remember much of it, but from the bits I could partially remember, it was hilarious. Hopefully I can pull it back into my head long enough to actually remember it. It woke me up in laughter. I dunno too much about Shani's personality, buut... wanted to draw her, and did. Her design is awesome. Too bad I was workin off memory, I think I got some details off? My internet decided to be a jerk the whole time I tried to do anything about getting her ref.

Generally or like program specific? And even at that, there is a lot to explain... or well, to attempt, XD but would like to try and explain it to ya~ With general colouring, on traditional stuff, you have layers, but they tend to work in the opposite manner to digital, and they'll like to blend rather than pile up most of the time, so traditional it is better to start out doing your line-art, then the intriget details first, and then move on to the next thing that is less intreget until you are at the basic colour tones for the character, or background.
With digital, it's literally the opposite, at least for me. Start out with the basic pelt patterns, like the general orange, white, brown, etc. Then move onto the more detail stripes, and then the intrget stuff last. I personally get the eyes done first, since they tend to be the most tedious in both traditional and digital. I really need to do a tutorial... I just don't know what to say when doing it mainly, XD
I dunno if that is much of an explanation at all, am definitely up for trying again if that wasn't anything useful, lol ^^' explainin stuff... not a strong point, but something I should work on, so don't be afraid to ask me other stuff.
I do think you could be refering to the shading and lighting though. the shading is split between two layers, both set to multiply @ 25% on is more of a cell-shade, the other is a painty style shade, gives a nice effect. As for highlights, I take the base line-art, lock it's transparency and simply go over the black spots I want with with white, to give a directional light shine along the end. then I may make a new layer on top of everything, literally spam some white blotches through the white line-art areas, and then blur it some, to give some bloom.
Would be better to just explain what I am doing while it is being done.
