Divergent RP- Scars Mate and nalasimba83

Postby Scars Mate » May 3rd, 2014, 4:16 pm

Sarah, a girl from Abnegation and Sebastian, a boy from Erudite are both Divergent. They hide their results from everybody but it slowly starts to show during the simulations. They need to team up even though they don't particularly like each other to find whats so dangerous about being Divergent. A girl from Candor who tested both Sebastion and Sarah knows they are Divergent and offers to help hide their identity from the rest of the Dauntless trainers. They have to try to stop the pending war between Abnegation and Erudite, with the help of their friends.

Sebastian let out a long, drawn out sigh. He sat at a long table in his school, surrounded by other Erudite members of his age.

The aptitude test. After waiting for so long, it had arrived. He could see several people who were worried- they were sweating, shaking, pale and drawn- and others who were fooling themselves into thinking they would be fine- straight shoulders, hard expressions, clenched fists. He sat slouching, elbow on the pristine counter. He didn't particularly care about his results. He was joining Dauntless. He had to. His parents fought, verbally and physically, so much so that Sebastian was determined to leave Erudite as soon as humanely possible. Dauntless was the only other faction that he could imagine joining; Amity was too boring, Candor was rude, and Abnegation was full of stiffs who were hoarding food, saying it was for the factionless.

Well, he thought. You don't know that for sure.

There was an eerie silence the entire room, including the usually chatty factions. Everyone's head shot up when a door opened, hoping their name would be called, only to feel a surge of disappointment as it was someone else.

There came a resounding click from the far side of the room. Sebastian's head perked up. It was him next.

"Sebastian Tunnel?" A clear voice called. Sebastian cleared his throat, raising a hand towards the woman as he rose, giving an easy to grin to the girl near him. He slunk across the room, his strides shorter and faster than usual, proving that he was, in fact, nervous.

"Sit down," the woman murmured, gesturing to a chair. "My name is Alice. I'm-"

"Candor. I can tell." He nodded to her simple black and white clothes.

"Ah. Of course. You know about the aptitude test, then?" He bobbed his head. It was his faction who created it, who had information on it. He had made a point of finding out about it. "Well then." The woman had a kind voice, not like the harsher, meaner Candor ones Sebastian was used to. "Let's start." He winced minutely as the needle pricked his neck; then he was under.

--

Sebastian shook as he woke. What had happened? There was nothing about that in Erudite. It was supposed to make him Dauntless; he knew how, but what-?

"Sebastian," Alice said, frowning, "that wasn't supposed to happen."

I know, he wanted to growl.

"Your results were inconclusive," she whispered. He could see fear, real fear in her eyes. She spun around to the computer. "I'm going to alter your results. Erudite. Make it normal."

"But you're Candor!" He objected. "You can't lie!"

"I'm not lying directly. And some things- some things are worth lying for."

--

Sebastian ran home. This was not right. What did that mean? He couldn't asked his parents- something Alice had said. Some things were worth lying for. This was bad. What was he supposed to choose? Erudite, to keep him safe? Dauntless, where he wanted to be? Or nowhere. He was inconclusive. He didn't belong.

Isabella Triton waited patiently in the row of chairs for the aptitude test. Was she supposed to be nervous? She had long, white blonde hair and the most vivid feature of her face were her sterling green eyes. She was 5'6'' and she had a slim figure (mostly because she didn't eat much at the dinner table.)Her eyes stared at the door expectantly. Suddenly it opened with a woman clutching a clipboard and a student exiting quietly. "Isabella Triton." Isabella walked in towards the door with her fellow Abnegation students nodding at her. Of course she knew that all Abnegation were going to choose to stay in their own faction. Was she supposed to as well? She felt a great amount of pressure as she entered the room, her heart racing fast. "Are you Isabella Triton?"The woman asked to confirm.

"Yes,"Isabella said.

"Alright. Please take a seat in this chair,"she said. Isabella did as she was told. "I'm Alice and I'm from-"

"Candor?"Isabella finished with her head perking from her chair. They both paused for a second, until Alice set down her clipboard and started laughing.

"Yes-is it that obvious?"she asked, smiling. Alice had short brown hair and brown eyes, a plain face. She was short and skinny, about 5'2''. She then went to a cupboard and returned with an injection and a small cup with orange liquid. She dipped the injection into the orange liquid and pulled back. "Can you lift your hair to the side please?"she asked. Isabella took her hair and shifted it to her right shoulder, leaving her left side of the neck exposed. "Thank you,"she said. She inserted the needle into the neck and pushed the plunger. Isabella winced for a brief moment.

She came up from her seat gasping. "What was that?"she asked. "Are you sure that was the aptitude test, because it felt like suicide,"Isabella stated.

"That-that wasn't supposed to happen,"Alice said clutching the clipboard with white knuckles. Her expression wasn't the cheery and kind one that was first seen when Isabella walked into the room. It was frozen and she turned a pale color. "You're results were inconclusive,"she said finally. The look in her face changed and Isabella could tell that she was trying to be as calm as possible. The Candor weren't very good liars.

"Inconclusive?"Isabella asked. "The test is supposed to tell which faction I belong to!"Isabella said.

"The aptitude test was supposed to cancel out each faction within every 'round.' For you, 2 factions remained: Euridite and Dauntless. They call it..."she said gulping. She leaned in to whisper it in Isabella's ear like someone was going to listen from outside. "Divergent."

"Diver-"Isabella began loudly until Alice cupped her mouth.

"Shh!"she said holding her finger to her lips. She was truly petrified that someone would hear Isabella. "I'm going to log in you're results as Dauntless, but there won't be any real footage of you doing your aptitude test. Don't share it with anyone, by that I mean your results."

Isabella nodded. So was being Divergent a bad thing? She hadn't heard the word until now. "But wait-you're Candor-"

"And I'm not supposed to lie, right?"Alice replied immediately as she uploaded something to the computer next to them. "It's not completely lying. You did get Dauntless. I didn't want to put Euridite because there are some things going on between Abnegation and Euridite." Alice gestured with her hand that she could get off the chair.

"Thanks Alice,"Isabella said gratefully as she took off the electrodes on her head. She took her hair from her right shoulder and spread it evenly across both shoulders. Alice nodded and attempted a smile, but it looked like it was manually plastered across her face.

"So that made two of them so far,"Alice mumbled frowning as she prepared another injection and another cup of the orange liquid. Isabella made her way out of the door and took the stairs down to catch a bus.

"So how was it?"her father said as he picked up a newspaper.

"How was what?"Isabella replied pretending to not know he was talking about the aptitude test. Her father had brown hair and brown eyes. He had small bags around is eyes and he had a rigid face.

"The aptitude test of course,"her father said glancing from his newspaper. Her mother came in with dinner. She had gold hair tied in a bun and blue eyes. Her face was pale and milky as if she didn't take care of her face for a long time. Isabella, was the complete opposite of her parents.

Isabella didn't want to tell her parents about her inconclusive results. Could she even trust her own parents? She bit her tongue for a moment. "Dad, we aren't supposed to talk about our results and you aren't supposed to ask." She took a spoon, a fork, and a plate.

"Isabella, please pass that plate to your dad,"her mother said giving a shake of disapproval.

"Right,"Isabella said, forgetting that she had to serve others before herself. She passed the plate to her dad awkwardly. She couldn't live in Abnegation anymore and it came to her like no surprise that she didn't get Abnegation on her aptitude test.

"So what does it say on the newspaper?"her mom asked her dad.

"The usual Emily, these Euridites are very selfish. They are accusing us of hoarding food again,"her dad replied. While her mom and her dad were talking, Isabella stared at her food. Slowly, she could feel the word Divergent form from her peas. She took the plate immediately and dumped it in the trash while her dad and mom were too busy looking at the newspaper.

She went inside her plain bedroom. Her parents insisted on having no decorations because it isn't 'selfless' to have a desire for beauty. "Divergent,"she whispered. It gave her chills on her spine. "What is...Divergent?"she whispered again. She went into her mirror and looked at herself. She definitely wasn't meant to be in Abnegation. "Who...What am I?"she said looking at herself. Then, she felt footsteps coming towards her. She turned away from the mirror, since she wasn't allowed to look at herself.

Sebastian stared up at the simple white ceiling of his room. Far off, he could hear his parents bickering in hushed voices. They hadn't even asked him what was wrong, how he felt. Nothing. Some parents he had. He flipped his dirty blond hair out of his eyes as he realised with oncoming apprehension that in front of his entire faction, he would have to leave.

A prolonged sigh left his lips as he rolled over onto his side curling up into a foetal position. This was harder than he had envisioned. Here he was, trying to sleep like a child, his tall body closed in on itself. He could have analysed what it meant; he knew how; and yet he couldn't. Too many things. What was he?

A sudden memory flashed in his mind. Divergent. A file he was never supposed to see, returning to him when he needed it most. He sat bolt upright, turning to the full length mirror. He got up, staring at himself. He was muscled; immediately after deciding he'd join Dauntless, he's started to exercise regularly. It had payed off, but he had no time to admire himself. He stepped even closer to his reflection, searching the reflection's eyes with his own. Nothing was different. So why was he Divergent? No answer came to him.

"Damn it," he muttered, clenching his jaw. There was no arguing coming from downstairs anymore. He suspected his parents had gone to sleep. In separate beds. "Here lies Sebastian Tunnel," he whispered. "Who couldn't stand his own parents." He crawled back to his bed, sitting atop the covers. He didn't move for a long time.

----

"Sebastian. Sebastian. Sebastian! Wake up! It's the choosing ceremony today!" His mothers shrill voice filled his head. She had brown hair, and a small, pinched face. Her personality didn't redeem her looks.

"I'm getting up, Layla." Sebastian had called his parents by their first names since he was three. It was an Erudite thing, he thought, but there was no guarantee it was for the same reasons.

He dressed quickly, wolfed down breakfast and hurried out of the door before his parents. Always so eager. Or maybe, just maybe, it was because he didn't want to see the hurt in his parents faces. Or remind himself that whilst he had blond hair, they had brown. Reinforcing his idea that his mother had had an affair. But they didn't talk about that, and neither did he. Soon, he'd be able to forget it. Faction before blood.

He joined the group of Erudite 16 year olds headed to the choosing ceremony. They were all relatively happy. They knew what they were going to choose. They had a simple answer, the name of a faction they belonged to. Sebastian had inconclusive. He fiddled with the corner of his blue jumper, glad he had never needed, or wanted, glasses. They would have slipped off even his nose as sweat began to accumulate on his brow.

They filed into a large circular room. Amity, in red and yellow. Candor, in black and white. Erudite, in blue. Abnegation, grey. And Dauntless. Black. Where he was is sure he had belonged until yesterday.

He sat down, pressed against his chair as others walked past. They thought he was going to stay. Granted, it wasn't such a big deal; everyone knew Erudite and Dauntless were close. But it always caused a slight shock when someone left any faction.

Jeanine Matthews stood. Gave a speech. The head of Abnegation stood. Gave a speech. Sebastian never remembered his name. Or maybe it was only now, now he was so worried. Could they tell he wasn't normal? No. No, they couldn't. They just couldn't.

Names were called and blood spilt into either the water, stones, coals, glass, dirt. People changed, people stayed. The most surprising was a girl with hair the colour of flames- from Amity- joining Dauntless. Her parents, for their part, didn't seem surprised. Sebastian thought he could see a tattoo peeking out from under the girl's mother's shirt. He racked his brains. The girls name- what was it? He was going to be a fellow initiate to her-

"Hi, Arabella!" He heard a Dauntless shout. Arabella. Fine. He could make friends. Even with a supposedly peace lover. He waited. And waited. It was his turn soon. And he could feel his parents eye's burning into the back of his neck.

(Isabella is before him, so I'll do his choosing after your post if that's ok?)

Isabella looked at the door and saw her mother carrying a heap of clothes cradled around her arms. She set it on the bed. "It's for the Choosing Ceremony tomorrow,"she said plainly, but kindly. She was about to make her way to the door and suddenly paused.

"Please don't ask about the ceremony. Please don't,"Isabella begged from inside her head. Her mom left the door and closed it. Isabella let out a grateful sigh and decided to go to bed, her entire body except her head under the covers.

Isabella couldn't sleep properly. Would she choose Euridite or Dauntless. The answer was clear: Dauntless. But maybe if she joined Euridite, her parents and even the faction wouldn't have much problem with it as they do now. Yeah right. They wouldn't even care if she was former Abnegation, they would just mark her as a traitor. But she knew what she had to do tomorrow. She prepared herself for the worst and decided to sleep, which she couldn't do. Ever since the aptitude test, she couldn't sleep properly. All her nights and dreams have turned into simulations. It helped since she woke up early for the Choosing Ceremony.

Isabella dressed up in the Abnegation grey clothes. She could feel the eyes of parents while she focused on the Choosing Ceremony. Worst of all, they had kind smiles on their faces. She took a deep breath and prepared herself to be called on next. "Isabella Triton." She tensed up a bit. So far, all Abnegation stayed in their own factions, as expected. She took a knife and slit her palm. A small river of blood flowed through her palm dropping at the white cloth that separated the bowls. She tried not to look into the crowd as she decided between Euridite and Dauntless. She knew that she wouldn't choose Abnegation, even if it deeply hurt her parents. Without thinking she immediately dropped her blood on to the bowl filled with coals, Dauntless it is. She heard mutters and even shouts within the Abnegation crowd. "Silence please,"The Abnegation head said. "I said quiet!"he finally shouted. Isabella then stood near the Dauntless, edging her face towards the Abnegation crowd to see her parents. Her dad was angry. Her mom still smiled, she knew Isabella was never cut out to be Abnegation and expected this even before the Choosing Ceremony. Isabella then ducked her head and watched as the boy after her chose his place in line.

"Sebastian Tunnel." Fear closed around Sebatsian's heart. Now he had to choose. He took a deep, shaky breath before rising carefully from his chair, flicking hair from his eyes as he walked slowly towards the stage. As he turned to look at the bowls, he could still hear the whispers about the stiff choosing Dauntless. Great. He had her to contend with, not that she'd get very far.

Why was he shaking? He knew what he was going to choose. It was the threat looming just above him, a knife hanging above his neck in a thin thread. You'll be safe in Dauntless. But would he? How could he be sure they wouldn't know he was Divergent?

The knife, freshly cleaned, was lying still on the table. He picked it up, briefly inspecting it. Small, simple, sharp. He wouldn't need to press hard. He touched his palm and a droplet of blood spilled out, followed by several others. He only had a few seconds before it would fall. He didn't want to make a mess like the girl before him.

Slowly, he out out his hand. It hovered over Erudite. No. His hand swung towards the Dauntless bowl. His blood hit the smouldering coals. There came a cheer, rowdy and loud and from his new faction. A wave of relief spread over him. He had chosen, he had a home. A home without angry parents, a disjointed family, a home where he couldn't be sure he had both of his real parents. A place he would be accepted.

"Well done!" A tall, dark skinned man said, slapping him in the back. Sebastian grinned, adrenaline rushing through him. He completely ignored the horror of his parents faces. He didn't care.

---

There was a commotion as the ceremony ended. Dauntless ran out first, punching the air and shoving, whooping and screaming. They headed straight for the train tracks, and Sebastian was far from lagging behind. He was near the front, the red haired girl from Amity by his side. She was laughing, and surprisingly fast.

"What's your name?" She gasped.

"Seb- just Seb!" He called back. Wind was whipping in their faces, carrying their words away.

"Short for Sebastian?" He nodded. "Well, just call me Bella. That's what everyone else does!" She smiled, unable to keep her joy from her face. "We've got to get the train!" She said suddenly. Dauntless were clustered around the tracks, jumping and heckling.

"Now this should be fun," Sebastian breathed, much to Bella's amusement.

Isabella smirked and slapped a hand as a Dauntless girl reached it towards her. "Welcome to Dauntless,"she said. Then, she and the other Dauntless went outside screaming and laughing as they were trying to catch a moving train. She could feel the cold rush towards her body and her dress was fluttering like crazy. She finally removed the painstaking pin that kept her hair in place like a bun revealing her white-blonde hair. She grinned, feeling sorry for the other Abnegation girls who still had to go home to their parents, not stare at their own reflection, and live the hard and peaceful life as an Abnegation. Now, as a Dauntless she had freedom. She knew right away she made the right choice.

But, now it started to get difficult for others. Some twisted their ankles and couldn't make it to the train. The others weren't fast enough and were tired. They were factionless. The train was almost at Isabella's grip. She held on to a handle and put her toes towards a step, then jumped onto the train. She stood on the edge of the train instead of the seat, enjoying the feeling of the wind smacking at her face and her hair flying behind her.

"Jump!"she heard a Dauntless-born initiate say to her friends. Isabella looked to the building. They were supposed to jump towards that building from a moving train. One girl jumped too early and-. Isabella looked away. She was now focused on her timing, it had to be perfect.

"Come on Jamie, you have to jump with us!"she heard one girl say. "No, I can't. I'm sorry, maybe I'm not Dauntless,"she heard Jamie say. "But you'll be factionless!" Isabella bent her eyebrows in determination, she had to jump NOW! She took her handles and boosted herself up for more speed. She balanced her toes so she wouldn't have a hard landing. She winced as her ankle bone hit the hard ground. She looked back at the others trying to jump, and the others who decided to become factionless. She didn't want to see what was below her. Only a couple, maybe 10 or 12 initiates survived, including her.

"So she's the stiff? I'm surprised she made it,"Isabella heard someone say. She looked behind her and saw a boy. He was tall and lean with brown hair and blue eyes. "You're right Jackson, but she won't even make it the first part of initiation,"she heard a female voice say. The girl had frizzy gold hair and brown eyes. She had an irritating face and voice. Of course, a "Stiff" is rare in the Dauntless faction. She took a deep breath and nodded. She would have to just prove herself worthy of becoming Dauntless.

"Alright, so we only have 10 initiates?"she heard a male voice say. She turned around and say a tall man behind her. He had blonde hair and looked very much older to her, like a man in his 40's. Even though he was very old, he looked stern and even scary. She knew that he was a Dauntless leader. "That's less than I thought. You know what you have to do." He pointed to a black spot down below them.

"We'll have to...jump?"Jackson asked. The Dauntless leader nodded and even grinned. The others looked back at him uncertainly.

Isabella clenched her fists. Now's my chance to prove I'm worth it...to prove I'm Dauntless. She looked down at the black spot. She had it planned out. She'd measure the distance between her and spot and jump in a cannonball figure. That way, even though she didn't know what was below that black spot, she'd not suffer from any minor injuries. She found herself grinning, finding the answer to why Euridite was one of her faction options. She looked down at the center and jumped.

Sebastian arched an eyebrow at the Stiff. She was eager. Perhaps a little too eager.

"She has guts," Bella muttered. Sebastian grinned.

"You can say that again," he replied. He liked Bella. On the train, she had told him her backstory: she was from Amity, had a mother from Dauntless, and the need to be brave rather than peaceful had won out. Apparently neither of her parents had been too shocked. He had told her briefly about why he moved; she nodded, both encouragingly and with understanding.

"Should we go?" She whispered.

"Who's next?" The man called.

"Me!" Sebastian said, waving a hand. This was easy. He stepped lightly up onto the side, before leaping off rather gracefully. A shock of adrenaline coursed through him as the wind whistled past. He whooped just before hitting the net. He silently praised whatever deity really existed that he hadn't landed funny; it could have ended badly.

He rolled off the net, shaking hair from his eyes as he was greeted by a brunette woman in her 20's and a few others around the same age. Sebastian glanced back as Bella landed heavily on the net. For a moment, he was worried she wouldn't move, but she heaved herself up and off in a matter of seconds with a smile.

Others quickly followed. All the new initiates dropped down, one by one. Unfortunately, a girl with long silvery hair came down with a snap; her body was pulled from the net and never spoken of again. Sebastian could feel Bella wince next to him. Old habits die hard.

"Come with me," the woman called, starting off towards an opening.

"Into the lion's den," breathed Sebastian, a touch of malice to his words.

Isabella found her self on top of a net. She grinned, so that was what was below the black spot. She looked back up at the row of initiates, they looked like small action figures from below where she was. She was greeted by two Dauntless instructors: One for the transfer initiates like her, and the other for Dauntless -born initiates. Her instructor was probably in his early 20's with a scar under his left eyes. She could see a tattoo peeking out from his arm. He had black hair and another scar under his lip.

"So you're a first jumper?"the Dauntless-born initiate instructor asked. She was a girl with dirty blonde hair and blue eyes. She had a piercing on her nose and lip. "A Stiff?"she asked chewing a piece of gum.

"What's you're name?"her instructor asked her. He was scary and didn't look at all friendly. She thought for a moment. She wasn't Abnegation anymore, she was Dauntless and that meant she could change who she was. "You only have one chance,"he said grinning. The name came into her head and a slow smirk slid into her face. "So what'll it be?"

"It's Sarah,"she replied sternly. Yes, that's a good name....

"Sarah?"The girl said. "Welcome to Dauntless. We got a first jumper over here!!" She looked back at all the other initiates jumping down from the net. "Alright! All Dauntless-transfer initiates follow Drew!"she said. Another group of initiates formed a line in front of her and she led them another way from the opening.

________________________

Sarah and the others followed Drew towards a large table. There were lots of chairs for everybody to sit at. The initiates began to grab a plate and Sarah began mimicking them. She piled food on her plate, but they weren't like anything she used to eat in Abnegation. Thank god! She took her plate and turned around to find a chair until she bumped into somebody. He was the second jumper, but she didn't know his name yet. "I'm so sorry!"she said reaching to pick up a napkin and cleaned the mess of ketchup on the floor. The boy, instead stood stiff for a moment and then walked away with a red haired girl. Why did he turn away like that? He probably doesn't like me for some reason. She took a seat and muttered,"What was that?" A girl slid her plate next to her and smiled a bit.

"You mean pretty boy over there?"she asked Sarah. "Don't worry I saw it." She had black hair and blue eyes. Her skin was tanned more than Sarah's. "I'm Lyndsay. Lyndsay Jenova. And that was Sebastion Tunnel." She pulled her chair towards the table and rolled up her sleeves.

"Sebastion?"

"Yes, he's an Euridite. I see him whenever I walk home. And you're an Abnegation. Does that answer your question?"she asked.

"Yeah it does actually,"Sarah said. "I'm Sarah. Sarah Triton."

"I know. First Jumper catches on,"she said. "I'm Candor."

"I'm pretty sure the term "Stiff" catches on as well,"Sarah said. She shrugged, she didn't mind being called a "Stiff."

"I was actually surprised when I heard you're a Stiff,"she replied. "You're too pretty to be Abnegation."Sarah was grateful when Lyndsay used the term "Abnegation" instead of Stiff. She touched Sarah's silky white blonde hair. "You're hair is really pretty. And I wished I had your eyes. All the Abnegation girls I've seen aren't pretty at all. Well...I'm not saying their ugly or anything like that-"

"I know what you mean,"Sarah replied. "Thank you, nobody's ever called me pretty before,"she said smirking. Lyndsay's Candor genes were starting to show, but Sarah didn't mind it at all.

"Really? I'm surprised. Really. Isn't the word "pretty" like a restricted word in Abnegation."

"Something like that,"Sarah replied laughing. She took a fork and started cutting a piece of meat with a knife.

"You eat a hamburger like that?"Lyndsay asked.

Sarah shrugged. "To be honest, I don't really know how to eat this." Sarah looked back at her plate.

Lyndsay stared at her blankly. "Oohhh right! You don't eat hamburgers in Abnegation. Here let me show you." She removed the fork and knife from Sarah's plate and handed her a couple of napkins. "Do you want ketchup on it?"she asked.

"I guess,"Sarah said.

Lyndsay poured a cup of ketchup around the slab of meat and closed it with two patties. "Now try it." She grinned, looking at Sarah expectantly.

"It tastes really good,"Sarah said wiping some ketchup off of her chin with the napkins Lyndsay gave her. "Gosh, its the first time I've ever used that sentence."

Lyndsay laughed. "Right??" She took her own hamburger and bit it. "So what made you transfer to Dauntless?"she asked her.

Sarah paused and blinked for a few moments. "Its... I wasn't really...happy with my life in Abnegation." She licked her front teeth with her tongue. "So what made you transfer from Candor to Abnegation?"she said cheerfully pretending not to have heard anything.

"Oh please. Nobody really wants to go to Candor. Not even Candor-born initiates cant to go to Candor,"Lyndsay said."There's a shocker,"Sarah thought, but she didn't say it out loud. "Besides, I think I'm more Dauntless."

Suddenly, Drew interrupted. He talked about the schedule and curphew time. Dauntless have curphews?Sarah asked herself. She cleaned up her plate and washed her hands before going into a room where all the Dauntless-transfer initiates slept together. Lyndsay slept besides her and below her slept Sebastion Tunnel. She tried sleeping, but she couldn't because of her simulation dreams. She thought of her parents that night. What would they have thought about this? She remembered tomorrow would be combat training. She lied awake for most of the night and was the first one to get up, other than Sebastion. He got up early too. She doubted he slept at all with those bags still under his eyes. She pretended to sleep and closed her eyes until Lyndsay woke up too. She definitely didn't want to be the only one awake with Sebastion.

"Hamburgers?" Bella asked, eyeing the food in front of her distastefully. "Uh..."

"Don't tell me you're a veggie," Sebastian said, a smile playing on his lips.

"Well..."

"You have to get used to it. How do you expect to fit in?" He admonished, surprised at Bella's lack of- lack of, well, knowledge.

"I never said I was a vegetarian!" She said defensively, crossing her arms. "I just don't particularly like hamburgers. But I'll eat it anyway," she added, at Sebastian's snarky look.

The din around them was hard to talk over. Whenever someone dropped something, there was a round of raucous laughter. It was strangely homely, with large, sheer rock walls surrounding them. Sebastian would fit in here; he knew that.

Over the course of dinner (including mouth-watering chocolate cake), he glanced over repeatedly at the Stiff- Isabella? Or had she changed her name? Sarah, he remembered. A nice, simple name. Still, she was dressed in Abnegation grey, and it annoyed Sebastian for some reason. Rumours. He chided himself.

After Drew gave some simple announcements- no wearing old faction clothes around the compound, lights out at 11:30, training starting at 8:00 sharp tomorrow- the transfer initiates were herded to a shared room.

Great, Sebastian thought sourly. Let's just share a room, shall we, that's not going to cause any trouble whatsoever.

The two of them- Sebastain and Bella- were last in the room, so had a bad choice of beds. The managed to grab two next to each other- Sebastian under Sarah, and Bella under some other girl. Bella grabbed a sink before everyone else though, so both could clean the ages to an extent before crawling into their not-so-comfy beds.

"Night, Seb," Bella whispered, her red hair flying around her on the covers.

"Night!" He grunted in return. He was tired. He had dark, heavy bags beneath his eyes, fortunately overshadowed by his jawline and mess of hair. He didn't fall asleep- he lay there, letting his relief and guilt and apprehension and excitement wash over him multiple times. Staring up at the springs, he wondered vacantly if and who would make it to become a full initiate- it was commonly known not all got through due to a strikingly difficult programme involving cutting out any weaklings.

After several house, Sebastian fell into a light doze, before waking again very early and sitting up on his bed. He could tell Sarah was awake- the constant shuffling from her bed didn't come from someone asleep. After a few more minutes, he heard more shuffling, so got out of bed to go change his clothes. They had been laid out; all black, very simple. Now all I need is a tattoo, he thought.

Slowly, others tricked from their beds into the dining hall where a very simple- but with a wide variety of choices- breakfast was laid.

"Right," called Drew after they had finished. "Follow me." He had a strange smile on, causing a lurch in Sebastian's stomach.

"What-"

"I don't even know," he muttered to Bella.

Sarah found Lyndsay awake. Her black hair was scattered everywhere. Sarah couldn't help but laugh slightly with her hair surrounding her face like a lion's mane. "So you're up?"

"Yeah,"Lyndsay said groggily. "Hey, did you wake up early or something?"she asked with a yawn. She stretched her arms and removed the blanket from her legs.

"Me? Uh...No. I woke up about the same time as you,"Sarah said with a lying smile on her face.

"Oh,"Lyndsay said. "Oh my gosh, don't we have combat training today?"she asked Sarah. "Damn it! I bet that guy Drew will kill us if we go late."

"What?"Sarah said. "Yeah I know, but half the initiates aren't even awake. Plus, we still have time over breakfast." Sarah said as she pulled her T-shirt over her head and wore a Dauntless uniform instead. She grinned, she like it. "So if you're going to get ready, you can meet me at breakfast."

"Huh?"Lyndsay said. "Hey wait Sarah. Hold on, let me just get a T-shirt,"Lyndsay said laughing.

Lyndsay piled up some toast on her plate and passed the plate onto Sarah. Sarah took one toast and passed the plate to somebody next to her. "Hey Nel,"Lyndsay said as a guy took a seat next to Sarah. "This is Sarah."

"The first-jumper right?"The guy named Nel said. He had ruffly brown hair and blue eyes. The guy grinned and smiled, pulling his chair up the table. He wore the Dauntless uniform as well. "I'm Nel. I'm Candor, too."

Lyndsay elbowed Sarah. "See, you're famous,"she said laughing slightly. "What's up?"

"Nothing. Why? I was just heading to see the tattoo place,"Nel said. "Hey Sarah, wanna come with us to see me get a tattoo?"

"Sure, why not,"Sarah said.

He grinned back. "Oh stop flirting with her,"Lyndsay said. Suddenly, Drew called them up. "Wonder what that's about."

Sarah shrugged, leaving her plate on the table. "Well let's find out,"she said as everybody began following Drew.
