And zebras, gaselles and others have to live and somehow communicate with Kion/Simba/Nala, knowing that their children can be eaten any moment. I dunno how it works..
Maybe there are some rules that lions hunt only weak/sick or maybe most herbivores don't have strong family ties so they are not very upset if their relatives die.
