Description: Malai is a stocky but short lioness. She's somewhat plump; with rounded features and filled-out shapes. Like her name might suggest, she is of a creamy color. Her underside, muzzle, under eye shading, and whole paws are a lighter cream-white. Her tail is a few shades darker than her main body, and has distinct darker stripes with even darker stripes on top. Her top eye shading is a darker golden, as is the insides of her ears and part of her tribal marking on each front leg. This color is also on the tips her her toes as well as making a line over her paw color. Her marking is dark brown shapes surrounded by a paler gold, and with streaks of gold. She has dark ear rims and a line of pale cream inside. She has a pinkish brown nose, and very bright blue eyes.
Personality: Carefree, whimsical, and bouncy. Malai is a very light-hearted lioness. She's childlike and silly, and is almost always smiling. She absolutely loves being happy, as well as making others happy with her infectious good mood. She is quite casual, and very pleasant to be around for the most part. There are times where she might seem like an annoyance to some.
Malai likes to play, and she's a bit lazy when it comes to doing hard work. She can be a bit selfish, and rather spoiled. Her hunting and fighting skills are rather mediocre. She stills seems to be a cub, and her mental maturity is rather low. She wants to enjoy life as best she can. She is reasonably smart, though not a prodigy.
She is a very social lioness, obviously. She loves to be around others. Malai is very kind and friendly to nearly everyone. She loves cubs, and has hopes to be a mother one day. On the topic of mates, she's rather naive. She'll playfully flirt, but isn't serious yet. She and her friends tend to gossip about young males and act like teenagers, but she hasn't really had a relationship before.
It's rare to see her upset, but in the case of a death or something she'll be appropriately solemn. Malai will be respectful when needed.
History: Malai was born the third youngest of her parents' offspring. Her brother Mzabibu is the oldest and only one of his litter, and Vumbi, Malai, and Panya were born the next year in another litter. Their parents are the ruling King and Queen of their pride, which is known as the Lakelands Pride due to their location near a large lake. It is a rather large pride, and has plenty to do for cubs. Malai and her siblings got into heaps of mischief as they grew, and all of them were rather spoiled.
A drought reduced the lake to a muddy pool when Malai was about seven months old. Panya and Vumbi got sick, as did a few of the other cubs of the pride. One died, actually, but he wasn't a close friend so Malai was more scared than upset. The pride suffered, and tempers flared all the time. The king and queen were able to keep things under control. Patrols were sent to search for rivers or other water sources. It was a great relief when the wet season came and brought the rain.
Mzabibu was being groomed to be the next ruler, but his younger siblings weren't all that jealous. The pride doted on them, and they could do almost as they pleased. Malai was certainly glad not to have all that responsibility--she hated having to do work. Even when she and her sister Panya were required to start accompanying the hunting party to watch, she wasn't that thrilled to be taken away from playing. Her sister was a bit more interested in learning, but Malai was stubborn and lazy.
She matured a bit when she started having to actually participate in hunts. She was never very good but managed to at least bring down prey. She still hasn't caught anything on her own yet, though.
