Character Description
Name Meaning: Zaidi means "more" in Swahili.
Orientation: Bisexual.
Relationships: Unataka (mother) Silika (brother)
Shwari (mate) Mchumba (daughter) Jengo (son) Hedaya (daughter)
Description: Zaidi is a very slim and sleek lioness. Her dark fur is neat and short, easily displaying her coloration. Her legs are long and lithe, making her a fast and agile sprinter. She has a minor flaw, though: Her tail does not bear a tuft, instead just ends like a domestic cat's. She still has a darker color where the tuft would be. It is some sort of recessive mutation, and her father has it, making her mother a carrier. Her brother most probably has the gene but does not show it.
Her fur is a very deep, dark gray. It is smooth and flowing, and looks slightly bluish when compared with her subpelt color. Speaking of which, her underbelly and muzzle are a lighter gray, and it descends to the underparts of her legs. Her toes are black, as well as the tip of her tail, and her inner ears. What makes her stand out is the whitish-gray color that highlights her face and legs. More specifically: She has whitish-gray boots on all four legs, starting right at the black on her toes and rising to just above her wrist/ankle. Her face is decorated with her eye shading being the same whitish-gray, making her eyes really stand out from her dark face. She also has three whitish-gray streaks from the back of her head spreading out on her forehead. Zaidi's eyes are quite pale, even the yellow "whites" are light-colored. Her irises are quite pretty though, being a light turquoise-blue hue.
Personality: Zaidi is an all-around confident and sometimes-sweet lioness. She is always ready to challenge anything, not just in an aggressive way. She is very sassy at times though, and even could be called flirtatious in a way. She is smart-talking and wily too, but often a bit rude when in speech. She doesn't care about offending others too much, and that completely washes away any hesitation she might have. She'll do something like spit out the pure truth, whether its lovely and nice or terribly painful.
She can be very brooding when alone, and sometimes seen as insane--she mumbles quite a bit to herself. Any lion who has glimpsed her happier side might call her a bit loopy, but even Zaidi herself thinks she's a bit crazy. And she doesn't mind it, really. A touch of insanity is just right, according to her. And nothing's been harmed because of it. All she does is goof off and act out-of-the-ordinary.
When this side of her is showing, Zaidi is quite a spirited young thing. Rambunctious and wild, she loves to play and will jump and race around at the most random of situations. Although she can be a bit clumsy and will end up giving herself a few bruises if she doesn't be careful. In fact, she's ran into trees more times than her family could count. Even with this, she is an intelligent youngster--able to sidle out of her crazy side to a bit more of a practical, witty lioness.
She may show a cheerful and outgoing side, but often it's a cover for her more colder personality. In this way, she is more like Silika. Zaidi usually tears down her mask of cockiness when she is angered or depressed. And although these moments do not happen much, they are rather dark and it takes a bit for her to recover.
History: In the thick of the jungle a large pride makes its home. Known as the Jangala (Sanskrit: uncultivated land; derivitave word for jungle) Pride, they are perfectly fitted to their environment. Most have dark fur, and tend to have grey shades rather than warm hues. Zaidi and her brother Silika were born on a typical warm day to a lioness named Unataka. They were some of the first-born cubs of the season, making them some of the older cubs that year. (Wip) Permissions: Private (Only the artist can use this character.
