Busara's Portrait

Registered at MLK: May 18th, 2013, 7:31 pm.

Gender: Female

Species: Lion

Character Description

Name: Busara (Meaning "tactful" in Swahili)

Nickname: Lyra)

Gender: Female

Breed: Lion

Family: Mother is Lufafa, father is Kubwa (Both coming soon)
Mate/cubs: None

Looks: Her coat is close to Nala's colors, but is a dark pale like Sarabi. She has fuzzy fur kind of like a hyena's mane that starts at the top of her head between her ears, goes down her neck and ends just a little past her shoulders. She has a white tail tuft, and light tan markings in the given areas of the average lioness in The Lion King, but her nose is black and outlander shaped. The back of her ears are a dark brown rimmed with black, and she has a few spots here and there that are slightly lighter than her coat color, such as on her shoulders and hindquarters. She also has a scar too, from a fight she had lost long ago to a rogue, the scar runs from the ridge of her back near the base of her tail and down her right hind leg. Her eyes are a deep but ice blue and her pawpads are a blackish-brown except for her front right paw, which is more of a pinkish color.

Personality: Given the meaning of her name, she is very strategic and logical, but aside from that she has a tender heart. Although she can be angered somewhat easily and can hold a grudge for a long time, but most of the time she keeps to herself, and tends to hold her tongue when she thinks of sharp comebacks but they do often slip out because she sometimes to most of the time says what she thinks.

History: Both her parents were outsiders, rogues of their own prides, and they met in the unknown lands. When they had Busara, life was rough, it had been during the dry season when all the herds had migrated and little to no rainfall had caused the water sources to disapate. Her parents were nomads, they never stayed in one place for longer than a maximum of two days. Left with little to eat or drink, Busara's mother Lufafa had trouble feeding her small cub, and Busara's father Kubwa could only do so little for his mate though he wished he could do more to help. Time passed and Busara had grown into a stronger cub, and had developed a fascination for stars, and looked to see the first star of the evening every night when she could before falling asleep. Eventually the herds returned, but her parents were too weakened to hunt, so they scavanged on little prey that had returned to the lands when the water did. But for Busara and her family, the return of the herds was bad news. Kubwa had discovered a half eaten carcass of a zebra and saw it as an oppertunity, but when he brought his mate and cub to it they encountered a large group of hyenas. Busara's parents, still weak from the dry season's toll, didn't survive. They ran from the hyenas, but Lufafa was eventually caught up to and killed, Kubwa knew then he was on his own to protect the only cub he had. Kubwa was soon attacked later on that day, but he managed to fight off the hyenas knowing his cub needed him, but he didn't walk away unscathed. Busara, heartbroken for the loss of her mother stayed close to her father, who was injured and growing weaker. Kubwa knew he wasn't going to make it, and knew he had to find a safer place where his daughter would be in better paws, but there was only one pride he knew of that would take Busara. So he took her to the Pridelands, and when they got there, Kubwa spotted a hunting party and drew in their attention. He begged them to take his child, and when he was sure Busara would be safe, he gave in to his weakness and died. His last words to Busara were words that Busara would never forget, and coping with the loss of both parents was hard, but she pulled through and accepted her new family. She's been apart of the Pridelands pride ever since, and has remained loyal to them and their customs. But her past isn't quite off her shoulders, she still thinks about the day of the hyena encounter, and when she is reminded of it she becomes silent and doesn't talk to anybody while keeping to herself as the tragedy replays itself in her head.
