This is my elephant! For my first elephant, I'm a tad bit proud of this... Her name's Tembo, meaning "elephant" in Swahili. I'm so original, aren't I? =P Tembo is very strong. But she's also really sweet. She doesn't know her own strength and only fights to protect her family or herself. She has two nicks in her ear from a battle with a rhino. She even went so far as to adopt a little orphaned lioness cub she named Msaada, meaning "help". She knew she already have a calf, Mpendwa ["beloved"], but was willing to take on the responsibilities of a baby that wasn't even her own species. She didn't care one bit that she was frowned upon for taking in a lion as her daughter. The other elephants in her herd called Msaada a "danger" because lions usually hunted the calves of the herd.
