Gender: Female
Species: African Lion
Character Description
Name meaning: "Gift" Father: Unknown Mother: Unknown Brothers: Unknown Sisters: Unknown
Appearance: Karama is smaller than an average African lioness. Not unusually tiny, but a bit short. She has an average body mass, not very thin, but not very bulky or muscular.
Her fur is a hue of light brown and her subpelt colour is paler, but tinted with a small amount of tan. Her right ear and markings are multiple shades darker than her main fur colour. She has a dorsal stripe that runs to the base of her neck and splits off and trails down the front of either shoulders. Her shoulders are speckled with spots of the same hue, and her legs were also spotted as a cub, and although the markings on her limbs faded as she aged, they were still noticeable.
Karama's large, kind eyes bear a chestnut-brown iris, and her sclera is a slightly uncommon white rather than yellow. Above each eye is a small triangular marking that is a similar shade to her underbelly and paws. Her nose is a pale pink colour.
Personality: Affable and friendly, Karama is not one to judge automatically. She is accepting of differences and willingly helps those in need, although she'll back off if they refuse her assistance. She can be sympathetic and offer empathy if it's needed.
Karama can jump to conclusions quickly and can take offence easily. She sometimes can be short-tempered with those who are judgmental towards her foster daughter and will snap at them in her child's defense. She can be overprotective and much too worrisome at times, often concerning herself over minor things.
History: Karama had a rather normal childhood, often spending her time playing under the watchful eye of her mother or father. She was dearly loved by her family and well-liked by a lot of the cubs in her pride. She wasn't very daring or bold, and almost never ventured farther than her parents would allow her to, due to her being a rather obedient cub.
One of the few times she daringly trekked over the border, where it was forbidden by her parents, she encountered a hostile rogue. Her wails of fear had been heard by her mother, and the older lioness hurried to her rescue, and with the help of a few other pride members, drove the rogue off. Karama received a stern scolding, and she meekly promised that she would never venture too far until she was older.
As Karama grew, she spent a majority of her time around cubs and developed a desire to be a mother to her own children, due to her strong liking of taking care of the youngsters when their mothers were busy hunting or something of the sort.
When two lions who had been once faithful betrayed the pride and asked who would care for their one newborn child, Karama immediately volunteered, determined to raise the cub to be loyal to their pride. It wasn't easy, considering that she was sometimes warned by a few others that the cub, Mardea, would turn out to be like her traitorous mother and father. Karama angrily denied those claims, saying that Mardea would choose her own path.
Karama raised Mardea with adoration and love, treating the cub like her own. Permissions: Private (Only the artist can use this character. Artist is accepting gifts with this character in them.) |
