"Dad?" He can see the shape of his father slowly peeking through the dust, and a small glimmer of hope fills him. Simba bounds forward as quickly as his small legs can take him. A gasp of terror escapes him when a monstrous form bursts from the dust, blocking his path. One of it's hooves slams the gorge beneath it, cracking it open into fissures and sending burning smoke into his face. The beasts' distorted cackling pierces his ears. It's head thrusts forward, and the breath is knocked out of him when it smashes into his body. "This time daddy isn't here to save you." Simba awakes with a start. The Wildebeest's image fades. Even with the comfort of Nala by his side, his nightmares will never cease. ----------------------------------------- It's been four years since I last saw The Lion King on Broadway, and this time it was extra special since I got to take Kiire with me for her first time seeing it! (even though I foRGOT MY DANG GLASSES thankfully we were in the third row and dead center) To commemorate both events I decided to re-draw one of my older pieces that I've always loved and wanted to remake. So here's a remake of The Wildebeest! 2011 Version In case it's hard to tell by the story (We have to keep it very short due to TLKFAA's letter limit uou) this is meant to be Simba's nightmare, where his trauma and fears from the Stampede have turned into a recurring sequence with this monstrous vision of the wildebeest. The design for the Wildebeest is from the Broadway play, I've always found them to be incredibly creepy and really make the Stampede scene that much more intense. uvu Story courtesy of Suka! <3
