The entire topic of "Kopa" has sparked a flame that has ignited a wildfire of disputes among the Lion King fandom. Either way, Kopa fits into the film if you put him in, and the film makes perfect sense with him being out of it, deeming Kopa to be a versatile character. Additionally, Kopa would actually make some plot holes in SP make sense, but there could be other theories besides Kopa to fill in the holes. Frankly, Kopa seems to be a flexible character who is both considerable to be a canon character or a non-canon character.

Kopa is the son of Simba and Nala and prince of the Pride Lands in a series of books called The Lion King: Six New Adventures.
