He was born in Frankfurt, Germany in 1957. In his childhood he learned to play the piano, after he finished school he played in some bands. In the 1970s Zimmer wrote advertising jingles. His first ''big'' job was the score for the film ''Rain Man'' in 1988. After that he became popular in Hollywood, and then in 1994 he wrote the score for ''The Lion King'', winning an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award and two Grammy Awards for it. After that he hat many other successful movies, but no one got on the same level as ''The Lion King''.<br />
