'''The Outsiders''' are a pride of lionesses (as well as two known lions, [[Kovu]] and [[Nuka]]) that still follow Scar's wishes; because of this, [[Simba]] banished them to [[The Outlands]], a near-waterless wasteland neighboring [[the Pridelands]]. The leader of the outsiders is [[Zira]], who is the mother of Kovu, Nuka, and Vitani. The Outsiders only appear in ''The Lion King II''. In the end all the Outsiders (with the exception of Zira, who dies during the battle against the Pridelanders) join Simba's pride. They could be referred to as "Scar's pride" or "Zira's pride".

As almost all of the Outsiders are shown to be female, Kovu and Nuka are likely the only two males in the pride. There also appears to have been no cubs after Kovu was born, which is odd seeing as there was [[Nuka|one male able to breed]] for the majority of the time, and [[Kovu|one male who eventually matured]], thus gaining the ability to breed.

==Physical Difference's to [[Simba]]'s [[Simba's Pride|Pride]]==

While the lionesses in Simba's pride have a golden coloured fur, the Outsider lionesses have slightly more muted and dull fur tones, and in comparison, the Outsider lionesses are much thinner than the ones in Simba's pride, possibly due to the fact the Outlands have "little food... less water..." (as stated by Zira). They also appear to bare their teeth more, and while this isn't much of a physical difference, it does show that characters like Zira appear to have sharper teeth, and more of them then the Pridelanders.

The male lions shown (Kovu and Nuka) take on Scar's colour scheme; this makes sense for Nuka (being Scar's son), however this means that other lions have the same colour scheme, as Kovu is only Scar's ''adopted'' son and heir.

Throughout the movie, some of the Outsider lionesses have been shown to have unique facial markings or small scars. Two such lionesses appear twice, and though they are never given names throughout the movie nor do they ever speak, they have a distinct pattern of spots under their eyes, making them readily discernible from their fellow Outsiders. Other lionesses with unique facial features have also been seen, such as one with tufts of fur around her neck and head, and one with a small spot on her lower right chin, and one with a hair tuft very similar to [[Vitani]]'s.

The Lion King II: Simba's Pride (later retitled The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride) is an American direct-to-video film released by the Walt Disney Company on October 27, 1998, as a sequel to the 1994 film [[The Lion King]]. It was later re-released as a special edition DVD (which altered the original title's "II" into "2") on August 31, 2004.

The film centers around [[Simba]]'s daughter, [[Kiara]], who falls in love with [[Kovu]], a male lion who was raised in a pride of [[Scar]]'s followers, who are [[Simba]]'s enemies. Desperate to be together, they must overcome the two obstacles that are keeping them apart: Kovu's mother, [[Zira|Zir]]a, and Simba.

This film was not rated until the two-disc Special Edition was released. It was then given a G rating by the MPAA.

While the original film's plot seems to have been inspired on the Shakespeare play Hamlet, this sequel's plot is similar to another Shakespeare play, Romeo and Juliet.

==Plot==

The film starts with the presentation of [[Simba ]] and [[Nala]] 's new cub [[Kiara]]. When [[Kiara ]] is older, she runs from her suffocating babysitters [[Timon ]] and [[Pumbaa ]] and sneaks across the borders of her father's kingdom to the '[[Outlands]]', where she encounters an "[[outsider]]" cub named [[Kovu]]. The two soon get into trouble when they find themselves in a river surrounded by crocodiles. Luckily, [[Kovu ]] "bravely" distracts them long enough for the two to escape. The cubs become friends, and [[Kiara ]] attempts to initiate a game of tag, only to find [[Kovu ]] has no idea how to play. In a bid to relax him, she playfully growls, but when [[Kovu ]] retaliates, out of nowhere [[Simba ]] appears. [[Kovu]]'s mother [[Zira]] , who had been watching from the bushes, also emerges.

The two face off as [[Simba]]'s pride appears, and [[Zira ]] reveals that the [[Outsiders]] were exiled by [[Simba ]] for remaining loyal to [[Scar]], and that [[Kovu ]] was [[Scar]]'s heir to the throne – and therefore a threat to [[Simba]]. However, [[Simba ]] is unwilling to hurt a cub and orders the duo to leave, much to [[Kiara ]] and [[Kovu]]'s dismay. As they journey home, [[Simba ]] scolds his daughter for breaking the rules and endangering herself, reminding her that one day she will be a queen.

Meanwhile in the [[Outlands]], [[Zira]]'s adult cub [[Nuka ]] complains to his younger sister [[Vitani ]] about [[Kovu ]] being "The Chosen One", when as the eldest the honor should be his. At that moment, [[Zira ]] returns and scolds her two sons. She mocks [[Kovu]]'s claim that he and [[Kiara ]] are friends. She then realizes that, by using [[Kiara]], [[Kovu ]] can get close enough to [[Simba ]] to murder him and take the throne. Thus, he can avenge [[Scar]]'s death. Alone in his tree, [[Rafiki ]] communicates with [[Mufasa]]'s spirit, and voices his fear of [[Zira ]] and mistrust of [[Kovu]], brought up with hate in his heart. [[Mufasa ]] however, has his own plan – [[Kovu ]] and [[Kiara ]] will be together, and unite the two prides.

Time passes and [[Kovu ]] grows into an adult. He is molded by [[Zira ]] into the perfect assassin, with only one goal in mind: kill [[Simba]]. [[Kiara ]] has also grown, and, keen to go on her first solo hunt, makes [[Simba ]] promise he will let her do it alone. However, [[Simba ]] sends [[Timon ]] and [[Pumbaa ]] after her to ensure her safety. [[Kiara ]] is unable to catch anything, but is furious at her father when she finds he has lied and sent the duo to track her. [[Nuka ]] and [[Vitani ]] watch the events before lighting a series of fires around [[Kiara]], trapping her. [[Kiara ]] faints from the smoke as [[Kovu ]] appears, as part of [[Zira]]'s plan, and carries her back to the [[Pride Lands]]. Though angry at first that he has interfered, [[Kiara ]] soon recognizes her old friend. However [[Simba]], drawn by the sight of smoke, appears. [[Kovu ]] lies and claims that he has left the [[Outsiders]] to become a rogue, and asks to join [[Simba]]'s pride.

[[Simba ]] is suspicious of [[Kovu]]'s story and motives. However, he is forced by law to acknowledge that he owes [[Kovu ]] a debt which must be paid. He allows [[Kovu ]] to stay at [[Pride Rock]], but makes him sleep outside, separate from the lionesses. Despite this, [[Kiara ]] thanks him for saving her and the two arrange for him to give her a hunting lesson the next morning. That night, [[Simba ]] dreams of the day his father died. In it, [[Scar ]] holds [[Simba]] back to prevent him from reaching [[Mufasa]] , telling him 'trust me'. As [[Mufasa ]] falls to his death, a laughing [[Scar ]] morphs into [[Kovu]], who throws [[Simba ]] from the cliff.

The next morning [[Kovu ]] attempts to teach [[Kiara ]] to hunt properly, but the two stumble on [[Timon ]] and [[Pumbaa]], whose favorite feeding ground has been taken over by birds. They enlist the help of the lions to scare the birds off, but it soon turns into a game. [[Kovu]], who has never played or had any real fun in his life, is confused by this new "training", but quickly starts to enjoy himself.

That night, as [[Kovu ]] and [[Kiara ]] stargaze, he questions whether [[Scar ]] is considered one of the "Great Kings", and [[Kiara ]] is visibly startled. He confesses that although [[Scar ]] was not his real father, he was still a part of who Kovu is, but fears that part may be the darkness that made [[Scar ]] evil. As [[Kiara ]] and [[Kovu ]] embrace, [[Simba ]] watches unseen, and asks the skies for guidance. [[Nala ]] tells him that although [[Simba ]] wants to walk the path expected of him, [[Kovu ]] may not, and should be given a chance. As [[Simba ]] leaves to ponder this, [[Kovu ]] tries to pull away from [[Kiara]], almost confessing his part in the plot against her father. Despite [[Kiara]]'s please, he attempts to leave, but [[Rafiki ]] stops him. [[Kovu ]] and [[Kiara ]] fall in love, and after returning home that night, [[Simba ]] invites [[Kovu ]] to sleep inside with the rest of the pride. [[Vitani ]] watches [[Kovu ]] give up a prime opportunity to murder [[Simba ]] and reports back to [[Zira]].

[[Kovu ]] eventually resolves to confess his true intentions to [[Kiara]], but before he can do so [[Simba ]] takes him aside for a private conversation. The two walk into the area that had been burned in the earlier bushfire, and [[Simba ]] tells [[Kovu ]] the true story of [[Scar]] . [[Kovu ]] finally realizes he has been lied to, but [[Simba ]] reassures him that, like the green roots springing through the ash, what is 'left behind can grow better than the generation before – if given the chance'. However, [[Zira ]] decides to take matters into her own hands and organizes an ambush. The [[Outlanders ]] chase [[Simba ]] into a gorge, where he begins to scale a wall of logs to escape. [[Nuka]], in an attempt to prove himself, tries to follow, but slips and is crushed. [[Kovu]], who had watched the scene from above, tries to dig him out, but is shoved roughly aside by his mother. [[Zira ]] lifts up a log to see her eldest son barely alive. He apologizes for failing her before dying. [[Zira ]] blames [[Kovu ]] for [[Nuka]]'s death and slashes him across the face, scarring [[Kovu ]] in an identical manner to [[Scar]]. Kovu defies his mother for the first time and runs back to the [[Pride Lands]]. [[Zira ]] tells the other [[Outlanders ]] that [[Simba ]] has turned [[Kovu ]] against them and declares war.

Meanwhile, [[Simba ]] has escaped but is badly injured. Luckily, [[Kiara]], [[Timon]], and [[Pumbaa ]] find him and take him back to [[Pride Rock]] [[Kiara ]] refuses to believe that [[Kovu ]] could be behind the attack, but she is the only one. [[Kovu ]] returns and begs forgiveness. [[Simba]] refuses and exiles him, and the other animals drive him out. [[Kiara]], confined to [[Pride Rock]], breaks out and goes searching for [[Kovu]]. As she is about to give up, [[Kovu ]] appears and the two are reunited. [[Kiara ]] realizes they have to go back and stop the fighting, telling a dismayed [[Kovu ]] that if they run away, the two prides will be divided forever.

Meanwhile, the [[Outlanders ]] march on the [[Pride Lands]]. [[Simba ]] leads his lionesses to meet them, and the two clans fight. The [[Outlanders ]] gain the upper hand, and [[Zira ]] steps in to finish [[Simba ]] off herself. However, before the two can strike, [[Kovu ]] and [[Kiara ]] leap in between them. [[Kiara ]] pleads with her father to stop the feud and tells him that a wise king once told her 'we are one', and that there is no 'they' or 'us', but 'they are us'. [[Zira ]] orders [[Vitani ]] to attack, but she refuses, to which [[Zira ]] furiously replies that she will die along with the [[Pridelanders]]. In disgust, the other [[Outsiders ]] change sides. While [[Simba ]] is momentarily distracted by the sound of the river dam cracking, [[Zira ]] tries to attack, but [[Kiara ]] interferes, sending them both over the cliff. [[Kiara ]] lands on a jutting rock but [[Zira ]] continues to slide down towards the raging river. [[Kiara ]] extends her paw to try and pull [[Zira ]] up, but the bitter lioness, like [[Scar]], is unable to let go of her hate, and falls to her death. [[Simba ]] announces he was wrong about [[Kovu ]] and invites the [[Outsiders ]] back home. All the animals in the kingdom gather as [[Simba]], [[Nala]], [[Kovu ]] and [[Kiara ]] roar proudly on top of [[Pride Rock]].

The comic centers around [[Tojo]], a young [[Pridelander]] Lion. A group of cubs listening to [[Mufasa]] talk about the Great Spirit. Tojo laments that the Great Spirit doesn't watch over him well, since he's always getting injured and now must rest instead of play due to a sprained ankle. Simba suggests that maybe the Great Spirit has a purpose in him staying at home instead of playing. Later, Simba becomes the "mother" of orphaned birds and takes care of them. While trying to teach them to fly, Tojo suggests making wings out of leaves. Simba agrees and leaves the birds with Tojo to go prepare them. Upon returning, he finds Tojo has bonded with the birds and made his own set of false wings, showing the Great spirit had reason in Tojo's injury after all.

==Physical Attributes==
Tojo has a close resemblence to [[Simba]] when he was a cub. He has a darker, browner shade of fur than Simba and a tan under-belly. He is the only lion cub to have blue eyes.

==Early life==

Tojo was born to an unknown lion and lioness. It is very likely that he was born in the [[pridelands]] since he is friends with Simba and that Mufasa never dismissed him, since it is likely that Mufasa would dismiss any friend of Simba if he was an outlander.

==Life as a Cub==

Tojo makes his only appearance in ''[[The Orphan Birds]]''. Tojo is one of the cubs that listen to [[Mufasa]] as he talks about the Great Spirit. Tojo doesn't seem to believe in the Great Spirit and says that it doesn't watch over him well, since he gets injured quite a bit and has a sprained ankle. Simba suggests that maybe the Great Spirit has a purpose in him by staying at home, instead of playing with the other cubs.

Later in the story, Simba becomes the "mother" of orphaned blue birds because he takes care of them. Tojo meets up with Simba and begins making wings out of leaves to teach the birds how to fly. An old, bald (on top of his head at least), and hunched over primate. Crazy eyes and smile. Though he somewhat resembles a mandrill, Rafiki has a long tail and lacks a distinctive crested head, and is referred to usually as a baboon, though it is said he is a shaman mandrill rather than a baboon.

Rafiki is a mandrill who first appeared in the Walt Disney Pictures animated film [[The Lion King (film)|The Lion King]]. He lives in a baobab tree and is old (presumably) and wise. He performs activities which are similar too that of a shaman, but also sometimes quite silly. He tends to speak in third person when speaking of himself. Rafiki provides important counsel to the adult Simba when the latter is trying to determine his destiny. His tail looks broken and bent. His name means "my friend" in Swahili, a borrowing from [1] Arabic (رفيق , rafīq : friend, companion, or attendant. He is known as the shaman of the Pride Lands. Though he may be old and weary (he has a bad knee), he can still pack a wallop with his kung-fu action if necessary. He often pops up in a bizarre manner to teach his wisdom in a rather roundabout way, and has the ability to read omens and communicate with kings of the past.

Rafiki's character often serves as the visual narrator of the story of The Lion King. He presents newborn cubs to all the animals gathered at Pride Rock, and draws a stylized lion cub on the walls of his tree house home to represent Simba's birth. When Simba runs away and his family believes him to be dead, Rafiki draws his paw across the Simba drawing, obscuring it in grief. Later, after picking up Simba's scent in the dust and pollen in the air, Rafiki determines that Simba is still alive and restores the drawing, adding the full mane of an adult lion as a sign to seek out this young deliverer from Scar's tyranny.

Journeying to the area where Simba lives with Timon and Pumbaa, Rafiki observes Simba and recognizes, at least in principle, that he is suffering from a ponderous emotional burden. To treat it, he approaches the young lion and teaches him a few playful (and sometimes painful) lessons about learning from the past, not living in it. He also points out that the spirit and values of Simba's dead father, Mufasa, continue to live in Simba himself. During this scene, Rafiki incessantly repeats the Swahili phrase "Asante sana, squash banana, we we nugu, mi mi apana," which roughly translates to "Thank you very much, squash banana, you are a baboon, and I am not." When Simba decides to return to Pride Rock and fight Scar for the kingship, Rafiki accompanies him, demonstrating his kung fu skills in battle against the hyenas. At the end of the film, Rafiki raises Simba and Nala's new-born cub atop Pride Rock for everyone to see, echoing the beginning of the film.

==The Lion King II: Simba's Pride==

In the sequel The Lion King II: Simba's Pride, Rafiki appears in the beginning again as the presenter of Simba and Nala's new-born cub Kiara. Later on in the film, despite protesting that Simba and Zira would forbid it, he is persuaded by Mufasa's spirit to attempt to get Zira's son Kovu and Kiara to fall in love. He tries to make the adult Kiara and Scar's heir Kovu fall in love with each other by taking them to a fantasy paradise called "Upendi". Later, when Simba exiles Kovu, he was seen sighing sadly of Kovu leaving. In the end, he acts as the host of Kiara and Kovu's wedding.

==The Lion King 1½==
Rafiki appears briefly in The Lion King 1½, and is referred to by Timon as "The Omniscient Monkey". It is revealed that it was Rafiki who taught Timon the philosophy of "Hakuna Matata". Besides appearing in the scenes he appeared in the original film, Rafiki also appears in a scene where he chats with Timon's mother and in a scene where he makes Timon go back to join his friends against Scar, albeit saying nothing but "My work here is done" after Timon goes to find Pumbaa on his own. A deleted scene from the film revealed that Rafiki was the movie's original narrator.

==The Lion King on Broadway==
Rafiki (played by Tsidii Le Loka) and Nala (played by Heather Headley) during the latter's song, Shadowland being performed on The Late Show with David Letterman. In the musical based on the film, the character of Rafiki went through a minor change. Because director Julie Taymor felt that the story lacked the presence of a strong female, Rafiki was changed into a female mandrill. The role was originated on Broadway by Tsidii Le Loka, who was nominated for a Tony Award in 1998 for her performance.

Rafiki's role is expanded in the musical. She sings the song Circle of Life and her painting scene is extended. She also sings a song called "Rafiki Mourns", in which she mourns Mufasa's death. She also has a brief role in Nala's song "Shadowland", blessing Nala for her journey to find help. Instead of finding Simba's scent on dust, Rafiki hears Simba's song "Endless Night" on the wind. Rafiki meets Simba and shows him that his father lives on inside him through the song "He Lives in You" (it should be noted that Rafiki's "Asante Sana" chant is completely changed). She is present during the battle, fighting a hyena using hand-to-hand combat. She then appears adorning Simba with the king's mantle and then presents his newborn cub at the end of the play.

*It was revealed in The Lion King: Six New Adventures, "A Tale of Two Brothers" that Rafiki was not always a resident of the Pride Lands.
*Rafiki appears in a few episodes of the Timon and Pumbaa TV series and also has his own series of skits called "Rafiki Fables" in the same show.
*Rafiki is a regular guest at Mickey Mouse's night club in the TV series House of Mouse.
*He appears as a minor non-playable character in the Pride Lands world of the popular Disney/Square Enix video game Kingdom Hearts II.

==Information about Me==
My name is Takoto. I live in England, and before you ask, yes, I drink tea, more than one cup a day usually, but that doesn't mean every Brit' does. I was born August 17, 1994, making me fifteen at the time I'm writing this. I am a dyslexic, asthmatic, insomniac who is bisexual.

The gaming systems I own are the PlayStaion 2, XBox 360, Nintendo DS (and nearly every version of Game Boy), GameCube, Nintendo Wii. I'm not like "XBOX 360 IS THE BEST", but I don't like it when people say "PS3 IS BETTER" because, really, both have their pros and cons, and console-elitists annoy me more than most people.

Despite being dyslexic, I try my hardest with spelling and grammar, so yes, I will make mistakes on articles, I apologise, but I do try my hardest, and have spell check installed on all my Internet Browsers (FireFox and Google Chrome).

I spend most of my day playing Pokémon, or drawing, or occasionally other games :B

==Plot==

Mufasa and Simba are on the top of Pride Rock on a cold winter's eve. Mufasa shows Simba the brightest star in the sky and says that it goes back to the time of Simba's great grandfather, Mohatu. Mufasa then tells Simba the story of Mohatu.

A terrible drought had gripped the Pride Lands. The water hole was reduced to a puddle, and all of the grass dried up and died. Mohatu made a law about how much each animal could drink. Lions were to go the water hole last, as they could survive a relatively long time without water.

The law worked and each animal was able to survive. But one day a selfish, lazy lion (who looks very much like Scar) sat at the water hole and drank a large amount of water The other animals stood nearby waiting for him to finish. Eventually an antelope approached him and asked if she could have a drink as well. The lion lunged at her, and all of the waiting animals ran in fear.

Mohatu walked for many miles. After a while he came to a large river. After having a drink, he lay down to rest, when he heard someone crying. He went to investigate, and found a large crocodile sobbing in the river. The crocodile was lonely and wanted some friends, but the other animals were afraid of him, because he once bit Hippo's tail. Mohatu said he would help the crocodile gain the trust of the other animals again.

As Mohatu left the river, he bumped into a hippopotamus. Hippo said that she did not go to the river because he was scared of Crocodile. Mohatu walked further until he came to a wildebeest. The Wildebeest did not go to the river because he was scared of Hippo. Mohatu then came across a zebra. Zebra did not go to the river because Wildebeest did not go.

After Mohatu returned to the Pride Lands, he realized that of all the animals needed to trust each other so that they could all use the Great River as their water supply.

He told the animals that no animal could harm another until the drought had passed. A zebra spoke up saying that since the first law wasn't followed and was broken by Mohatu's kind (the lions), he wanted the protection of the wildebeest. But Wildebeest did not want to go, as he did not trust the hippos near the river. A hippo spoke up and said that the only animal to be feared was the crocodile. The animals began to argue with each other, and Zebra said that it was each animal for themselves.

All of the animals ran off towards the Great River in a massive stampede. Cheetah ran forward in a burst of speed and tried to overtake Giraffe and Zebra. Zebra kicked Cheetah in the chest, and the animals ran over Cheetah as they rushed forward to try and be first at the river.

Zebra reached the river first. He raced forward to drink but became lodged in quicksand. All of the animals rushed forward to try and pull Zebra out, but Zebra was firmly stuck.

Mohatu finally arrived with Cheetah on his back. Mohatu, seeing that Zebra was stuck, called out to Crocodile for help. Crocodile appeared, and digging his muscular legs into the bank, he reached his tail out to Zebra. Zebra grabbed Crocodile's tail and was pulled to safety.

Zebra apologized to Cheetah for kicking him. All of the animals drank their share of the water, being careful to avoid the quicksand. The animals of the Pride Lands returned to the Great River again and again, and Crocodile was always kind to them. Finally the drought ended, but King Mohatu still journeyed to the river to see his friends Crocodile, Zebra, Wildebeest and Hippo.

Many years passed by under Mohatu's kind and gentle rule until Mohatu's death one winter's eve. The animals grieved heavily and began fighting once more. But just as they thought that there would never be peace again, a mysterious star appeared in the sky. The star was bigger and brighter than any other star. It filled the animals with peace and harmony and the fighting ceased. They knew that the star was the spirit of their king.

Tama has beige colored hair, just like most of the lionesses. She has yellow eyes and a tuft of hair over head, which makes her similar looking to [[Vitani]], a cub during the reign of King [[Simba]].

== Information ==
Tama was born to an unidentified lion and lioness. It is strongly believed that Tama was born in the [[Pridelands]] and that she is a [[pridelander]].

Tama only appears in the comic book ''[[Trouble in Paradise]]'' where it is revealed that she is a friend to Nala. Once Nala is fed up with Simba's antics, she decides to play with Tama instead in a hidden valley. Simba hears this and follows the cubs, unbeknowest to them. He later gets in trouble with a couple of snakes. Tama and Nala hear his cries and come to rescue him.

The cubs jump onto a tree and bend it so Simba can jump up with him. They later escape the snakes with the help of [[Zazu]]. Tama has a confident personality and seems to not like Simba, calling him names and cursing him.

Ni is very young, but is just old enough to live out on his own. Because of his young age, he is smaller than average and his mane isn't fully grown yet.

When Ni was old enough to survive on his own, he left his pride. He wanders into the Pride Lands and saves Nala from a hyena. He is rather concerned with not being flaky, and Kula and Nala think that if he groomed his fur, he’d look cute. He is welcome to stay with the pride, but he insists that he wants his own pride, and leaves never to be seen again.

By far the largest lion ever to rule, Mohatu has a thick brown mane with an almost unnoticeable curl at the top, a large nose and chin, small sandy-brown eyes, and is has a very stock anatomy. His fur is dark, but more of a dark gold than his grandson Scar's orange. Mohatu greatly resembles his grandson Mufasa in general, being stocky and large.

== Information ==

Not much is known about Mohatu except what [[Mufasa]] tells [[Simba]] in the book, "[[The Brightest Star]]", however, it is known that he settled many disputes among the animals of his kingdom, both trivial and titanic. A large argument he resolved was one concerning waterhole rations during a great drought, as well as many prejudice against other animals. For a while, Mohatu was at a loss of how to save his subjects from dying of thirst, until he set out on a quest to locate another river the Prideland animals could drink from. The king wandered for some time before he discovered the Great River, which appears to be a part of the oasis [[Timon]] and the meerkats make their home, meaning that young Simba may have walked the same path as his great-grandfather while running away from the Pridelands.

Another issue the ruler dealt with was that of a selfish lion, known to some fans as Choyo, though never actually named. The lion refused to share the waterhole with any of the other animals, and if they tried to get some water from him, he would force them away. Mohatu came to him and resolved the matter, keeping the peace and allowing the other animals to use the waterhole.

The lion ruled for a very long time, perhaps the longest of any lion king, and one winter night, he died. That night was on of the only nights it ever snowed in the savanna, and on that night, as it was snowing, a new star formed in the sky. Mohatu died, but lived on in the sky as the greatest king of Pride Rock and the brightest star.

According to the set of books titled ''The Lion King: Six New Adventures'' he is the son of Simba and Nala, although he didn't appear in [[The Lion King II: Simba's Pride|''The Lion King II: Simba's Pride'']] - instead, Simba and Nala have a daughter named [[Kiara]], and Kopa's existence was never mentioned again. Disney has also asserted that the cub seen at the end of the first ''Lion King'' film is Kiara; Because the books and the second movie were produced by different writers, there would understandedly be inconsistencies between the book series and second film but many fans have tried to explain the differences, asserting that Kopa is in fact the cub seen at the end of the first movie due to the fact that the cub seen at the beginning of the second movie (Kiara) looks slightly different. In the book series, much of the time Kopa is listening to a story by various people like Zazu or Rafiki, but he probably appeared most prominently in ''[[The_Lion_King:_Six_New_Adventures#Vulture_Shock|Vulture Shock]]''. He also had a few minor roles in some of the other books in the set of six. According to the illustrations, he looked almost exactly like Simba as a cub, except for a small tuft of brown fur on his head. He is described as loving to hear stories, but is also curious and playful, like his father was.

During ''Vulture Shock'', Kopa wanted to find his family tree, which he thought was an actual tree with fruit and leaves. After being embarrassed by [[Mega]], [[Leo]], and the other lions, the cub ask Simba to take him to it, but his father was too busy dealing with a greedy hippo, so Kopa decided he would find his family tree by himself. Finding a lizard and chasing it, trying to eat the lizard, Kopa ended up wandering too far off and was in a dry, barren land; lost and afraid that he would never find his way back to [[Pride Rock]], he curled up and fell asleep. In the morning he was found by two vultures, and realizing that the cub was the Lion King's son, the vultures knew Simba would trade anything for him, including a feast so large they would never go hungry again. They kept him prisoner high up in a tree so he couldn't escape, where Kopa was later found by the Buzzard Boyz, a group of rapping vultures who sang horribly. They befriended Kopa after the tiny cub said he liked their singing, and the gang brought Simba and Nala to him. Kopa was then rescued, and his captors were forced to listen to the Buzzard Boyz concert.
