"Remove my topic" topic?

Hi! Welcome to the Feedback forum.
Before reading anything or asking anything; please check out the FAQs. Your question might be in there. However if you want a better understanding after reading the FAQs, like if it didn't explain it good enough, then by all means ask your question.

Please read the following before posting in this forum...

In this forum you will see an Announcement, and several "sticky" topics. The announcement is the Universal Board Rules. If you are new, read this before doing anything else! The sticky topics will stay above and separated from normal user-made topics in the forum. This is because they outline important information about the board. If you see a sticky topic concerning your issue, please reply with your question or concern in the correct topic. Moderators will see your reply within these topics. Before asking your question, be sure to read the topic and its first page especially. It contains information about your issue that is valuable and may even answer your questions. If the topic does not answer your question, ask your question within the topic, not the forum. If no sticky topic concerns your issue, then you are welcome to ask your own questions by creating a new topic within the forum.

Thank you for keeping the Board Help forum organized!

"Remove my topic" topic?

Postby Troll Berserker » January 17th, 2017, 11:10 am

I don't think I can delete my own topics and posts. There are some topics I made that I want deleted. Maybe we could have a topic where people can announce their topics they want deleted/closed?

Threads cannot be deleted, but a moderator can close them. You can have a moderator delete a post that you want.

^ This.

Also having a thread to request such things is just extra work for the mods as they would have to keep checking it.

And to add to what TLP and Si said, sometimes people don't want to make it public when they request that a thread be deleted or locked.

I dunno, I just don't see what's wrong with simply PM'ing a mod when you want a thread closed. I don't think it happens frequently enough to warrant its own thread here.
-We do not delete any accounts, topics, or posts by request (except accidental double posts).
-We will lock topics by request of topic creator.
A valid suggestion, but as the others have pointed out, one can request a topic lock for threads they have created either in the thread itself or via PM to a staff member (a more discreet method) to prevent further replies. Moreover, the rules state that we cannot/will not do this. Hope this clears that up for you!

Not even the topics nobody ever commented on? I just wanted to remove some character topics from the forums.

^As I said, mods will lock threads you don't want anyone to reply to, but we won't outright delete them.

You could always just edit out the bits you don't want there anymore

Just want to add a little bit of reasoning to not deleting topics, think of it, other people post and reply to topics on this forum than just the person who created it. It's unfair to delete everyone's posts in a topic because you don't want it to be up anymore. If mods were to go around deleting topics on here, not only would it inhibit people's freedom to post and talk about what they want, but it would make people feel uncomfortable that the owner could get angry at what someone says and just have the mods delete all the posts. It's too ripe of a thing to be abused.

Rule of thumb here, don't post threads that you don't want people to make active, or that you'll regret having posted later. Beyond that, you can have a mod close a topic, stopping people from further discussing in it, or you could just simply edit your own posts out if you don't like what you posted.

Otherwise, I get the suggestion, it would just be WAY too ripe for abuse, and that's the reason why it's not allowed per the rules.

Well okay, I thought it was okay to delete topics that nobody repied to anyway, but you said no.
I removed some of my characters from this site because I started using them on a certain roleplay forum and I don't want them to be present anywhere else. Already reported all of these to be locked but what's the point of keeping the blank topics anyway.

^ Because thems the rules.

That's why when you post on forums, you should make sure that you are going to be happy for what you post to potentially exist forever.
