Simba's Poetry

so, occasionally I write poems. I'll just post them all in this one thread in separate posts to keep them organized.

this one's the only one I could find at the moment. it's inspired by Ernest Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea. I got a 98 on it in English last year.

A mighty marlin leaps above the surface,
As graceful as a ballerina's bounding.
Golden sunlight shines on his scales,
Making them a large mirror.

Flying fish break through,
Shattering the water into diamond shards.
Above them is a beating of wings.
A bird dives in to get a meal.

The playfulsun begins to hid its face,
Turning the water a fiery shade.
Warm sandy beaches become pale and cold,
Like someone given a fright.

Fierce lions come to the shore.
Their big eyes glow in the dusk.
Only their growls and lapping waves,
Dare pierce the night air.

Wow that's really good AJ. Definitely worthy of a 98 in my opinion ^^. And I had no idea you wrote poetry! :O I read The Old Man and the Sea last year. I thought it was nice but it got a little dull in some parts lol.
Anyway fabulous job. I can't wait to read more of your lovely poetry! :D

lol, yeah I have random moments of deepness. I did a good bit in class, but I only wrote what I felt like writing. now, I just need to find where I put most of it....especially Fly and this one I based off of my 2 OCs, Kazana and Shadowalker.

and thanks for the wonderful comment! :D

Well done =) It almost looks like mine, (though mine aren't nearly as good ^.^) in that you clearly work hard to incorporate all the components of poetry. High five ^.^
