Simba's Poetry

so, occasionally I write poems. I'll just post them all in this one thread in separate posts to keep them organized.
this one's the only one I could find at the moment. it's inspired by Ernest Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea. I got a 98 on it in English last year.
A mighty marlin leaps above the surface,
As graceful as a ballerina's bounding.
Golden sunlight shines on his scales,
Making them a large mirror.
Flying fish break through,
Shattering the water into diamond shards.
Above them is a beating of wings.
A bird dives in to get a meal.
The playfulsun begins to hid its face,
Turning the water a fiery shade.
Warm sandy beaches become pale and cold,
Like someone given a fright.
Fierce lions come to the shore.
Their big eyes glow in the dusk.
Only their growls and lapping waves,
Dare pierce the night air.
