True Love

True Love
It had been several days since the wedding of Prince Mufasa "Sonic" the Hedgehog and Princess Sally Alicia Acorn. Sally was now in the process of learning about the culture and customs of her new home, the Kingdom of Hedgehog. It was so different from her former life in the Kingdom of Acorn: the food used exotic spices and flavorings that she had never heard of before. The style of clothing worn on ceremonial occasions was different. Nearly everything, with the exception of a few shared holidays, was different. The gorgeous, blue-eyed, red-haired squirrmunk sighed as she looked out over the vast city of Knothole from one of the palace balconies. Just then, Sonic, having heard her, went to her.
“Sal?” he began.
Sally turned around, the sight of her new husband bringing joy to her.
“Hello, my handsome prince,” she said.
“Hello, my beautiful princess,” Sonic replied.
They shared a kiss.
“So, what’s going on?” Sonic asked.
Sally turned back to the balcony railing.
“I guess I’m just experiencing a bit of homesickness,” she said.
Sonic smiled.
“Anything I can do to help?” he asked with a cocky grin.
Sally shook her head. Sonic joined her at the railing. Admiring her beauty, he began to think up words that truly fit her:
Eyes of blue
Hair of red
Fur of brown
Caring
Kind
Loyal
Beautiful
She’s everything I’ll ever need
Sally smiled as Sonic admired her. In her turn, she began to put think up words of her own:
Fur of blue
Eyes of green
Handsome
Strong
Brave
Kind
The fastest thing alive
He is my love, my friend
He’s everything I’ll ever need
Sonic and Sally looked deeply into one another’s eyes. Above them, the magnificent, star-studded sky resembled a sheet of black velvet studded with tiny diamonds. Finally, Sonic leaned and kissed Sally. For a long moment, they were no longer prince and princess, no longer hedgehog and squirrmunk, but the essence of love itself. Finally, however, it ended. In Sonic’s eyes, Sally was a treasure far greater than anything his royal fortune allowed him to have.
“I will love you for all eternity,” he told her.
“And I you,” Sally responded.
The prince and his future queen then went back inside the palace for a good night’s rest.
