Character Bios:

Name: Beleos Longtail
Species: Field Mouse
Gender: Male
Age: About 10 seasons (So roughly 15 years old)
Personality: Very hot headed, and arrogant. He has a bit of a tough attitude, but beneath that attitude lies his insecurity of not having his parents with him since he was three. He is kind to some, and cold to others. He also has a sense of humor, despite his situation in life.
Description: Dark brown fur, brown eyes, a long tail (hence his last name) and normal height for a teenaged mouse. He usually wears a red shirt, trimmed with gold silk, and has a small dagger in a sheath around his waist.
History: Nobody at Redwall knows about Beleos's past except the select few that he told. He was raised since he was three seasons old, and trained by captain Festus. Beleos had come from a long line of noble warriors. All Beleos could remember was a fire, and the sounds of conflict as he was being carried away by Festus. Bits, and pieces of the rest of his history will be revealed in this rp.

Name: Festus Adderbane
Species: Field Mouse
Gender: Male
Age: Quite Old
Personality: Festus is quite the interesting character. He is very intelligent, and tends to speak in riddles. He also talks kindly to everbody, friend or foe. Festus is also extremely polite, and gentle with lady mice. [by gentle, I mean he doesn't show any signs of violence]
Description: Gray fur, dulled brown eyes, a small white goatee, and a suit of old grayish armor. He also wears a purple cape indicating his role in the last king's army. He has both a dagger, and a sword in sheaths around his waist.
History: Festus Adderbane was a high ranking captain, in the army of the beast king Remus. When Romulus killed Remus and stole the throne Festus ran off to find Sebastien Longtail a high ranking war hero to discuss what must be done. When Festus entered Sebastien's house, his son was asleep, and Sebastien himself was not there. All that was there was a letter, and a book with the crest of the longtail noble clan ensignia on it. Festus read the letter, and followed out on his old friend's wishes. The rest of his history is displayed in tid bits within this rp.

~ At RedWall Abbey ~

It had been quite some time, since Mattimeo had been saved by his father. Ever since they got back, everything was normal. No excitement, no great battles, no evil war lords. Just normal, peaceful life at Redwall Abbey. Constance had taken a liking to Auma and trained her to be the next badger mother of Redwall. Mattimeo had grown into a young adolscent mouse, taking no interest in a fighting career like his father. This sort of upset Matthias, but he knew pushing his son into doing something he didn't want to do would be a very unjust thing to do.

Today was particularly quiet, Matthias noticed as he walked into the empty chamber of the prophecy. He smiled to himself as he looked at the small woven image of Martin. Was his job over? Did he fulfill what Martin wanted him to? His thoughts went back to Martin's sword, and how it had helped him through all of his troubles. The smile on his face faded as he stepped closer towards the tapestry in front of him. He placed his hand on Martin's figure on the tapestry. "Thank you Martin...for all you've done." Matthias said quietly as he turned and made his way slowly out of the tapestry room. He adjusted his green robes as he walked out of the abbey, and into the front yard of Redwall.

"Ah, Matthias! Good Morrow!" Basil said as he approached the defender of Redwall from where he was standing.

"Good Morrow Basil. How's everything going?" Matthias asked with a kind smile towards his trusted old friend. Basil pat his stomach.

"Starving. Would you happen to know what Cornflower is serving for lunch this fine day?" Basil asked with a chuckle. Matthias laughed as he shook his head no. Regardless of how older Basil had gotten in the past few years, he was still the same hungry little hare.

"Aw! I'm going to go sneak a peek. Be back very soon." Basil said as he made his way quickly into the abbey. Matthias looked to the pond now, and made his way slowly towards the bench over looking it. He sat down at the bench, and gazed at his reflection in the pool.

~ Mossflower Forest ~

Festus growled as he pushed his cape out of the way of his feet, tripping over several small tree roots. "Curse this forest! It mocks me with every step I take!" Festus murmured angrily as he finally unsheathed his sword, and began cutting every root that almost tripped him. The old captain had been traveling days without much sleep or food, so it was obvious that he wasn't in a good mood.

Beleos sighed as he follwed quickly after the captain, jumping over any obstacle that was too large for him to step over. He dusted off his shirt so that he looked good when they got to Redwall. "Festus, stop fussing! We will be there soon! No need to be in such a grumpy mood!" Beleos said with a small chuckle as he jumped over another medium sized root.

"No! I want to be grumpy! Boy I have not had food, or sleep in four days! Be glad I take it out on the roots, and not you!"
Festus pointed out. Beleos took that into thought. His training was tough enough as it is, so he figured that Festus was right.

"Hold on! Look Festus!" Beleos said pointing towards the rather large structure in front of them. Festus growled as he cleaned his blade before putting it back in his sheath. His face lit up slightly as he too spotted the great gates of Redwall.

"Hark, we are there! Great merciful lord!" Festus said with a sigh of relief, as he and Beleos made their way through the clearing on the dirt path towards the main gate of Redwall. Festus stopped abruptly at the gate, and wondered what he should do. Would knocking suffice ? Before Festus could decide, Beleos had already knocked on the rather large door quite hard.

"Now we wait."
Beleos murmured as he waited for someone to let them in.

[OOC: Sorry if my grammar kind of sucks. I'm not a very good writer! :innocent:]

Abbot Mordalfus was taking one of his leisurely morning strolls in the gardens of Redwall Abbey. Every time he did this he could not help but be amazed by its beauty. Although it had barely been a season since the dreadful seige of Redwall by General Ironbeak, things were fast returning to normal in the peaceful abbey, and the roses were in full bloom once again. Even now as the abbot listened, delicate birdsong filled the air. He hummed a soft tune to himself as he continued his tour of the gardens. How lucky he was to live in such a tranquil place!
The old mouse paused briefly to admire the view of the pond shimmering in the morning sun. What was that? He wiped his glasses on his habit and squinted harder. He could make out a figure sitting there beside the pond. It was Mattimeo.
The Abbot shuffled up to stand beside the young mouse. He put a paw on his shoulder to steady himself.
"Greetings young Mattimeo. I wasn't expecting to find you here. Lovely view isn't it?"

"Who's there?" a voice called gruffly from within the Abbey walls. Not more troublemakers to ruin their quiet once again! It seemed their Abbey was never at peace anymore. Constance didn't want to deal with any more kidnappers and intruders ever since Slagar the Cruel had found his way into their Abbey walls. However, these two visitors didn't seem to pose much of a threat. Although both carried weapons, these two seemed to be ordinary fieldmice, and one looked to be barely ten seasons old. But the wise old badger didn't let looks deceive her. For all she knew, they could be spies for some new evil warlord.

[OOC: You are better then alot of people I know lol... :P and it's Matthias sitting by the pond not, Mattimeo]

"Haha. Oh dear. It's me abbot. Matthias." Matthias said with a small smile. The abbot's vision was declining with the last couple of seasons, so Matthias had to tolerate being mistaken for Mattimeo many times. Matthias's smile faded as he looked to the pond. "Yes. I've never seen Redwall so much at peace. Makes me wonder If I ever have to raise my sword again." Matthias murmured. "Not that I want to! It's just...very dull lately." Matthias said as he rested his chin, on his forepaw.

Outside the gate, both Beleos, and Festus looked up. "Oh my dear lady! Please, open the gates! We are simply travelers who have not had food or sleep for four days!" Festus said in an almost pleading tone.

"Not me! He's the one whining about it!" Beleos shouted up. Festus growled as he looked to his young student. Beleos laughed as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Well it's true isn't it?" Beleos pointed out.

"You can leave out some details." Festus whispered hoarsely. He then waited for the decision of whether the gates were to be opened, or closed.

"You know, this kind of looks threatening. You are in a late captain's uniform, and both of us are wielding weapons." Beleos pointed out.

"I'm not getting nude...Have some decency boy!" Festus said in shock. "Please! We ask nothing of you, but refuge!" Festus called up to the walls again.

The old mouse blinked over the top of his glasses. "Why, silly me! It is you isn't it Matthias? Oh dear! Ha ha ha! You look so much like your son it's hard to tell the difference anymore." The kindly Abbot chuckled as he shuffled over to take a seat next to his companion.
His face grew serious as he listened to his friend's response. He shook his head wearily before replying. "Ah Matthius, restless as always with the warrior spirit! But you must remember, son, that we are an order of peaceful mice. Fighting is against our nature, except in defense. We will only raise our swords when we have need of it. In the meantime, you should count it a blessing that we are experiencing such an abundant time of peace and prosperity. Don't think about wars and battles just yet."
One look at Matthius' dejected face was enought to tell the Abbot that his words had struck him too hard. The old mouse's heart softened toward his friend. He spoke again in a somewhat gentler tone.
"Cheer up Matthius. Perhaps Martin meant it to be so."

Constance laughed despite herself. Listening to these two silly mice bickering among themselves had put her in higher spirits. She dared to stick her snout out from above the parapet in full view of the two fieldmice and held them in her steady gaze for a few moments. After a little hesitation, she shouted, "Alright, I'll let you in. But mind you, one false move and we'll chop you both into crowsmeat. You got that?" she barked.

Matthias looked to the abbot and smiled. "It's not that I want war, or some grand chase. It's dull to live a life of only peace. I'm just the fish catcher here. I have nothing to do besides catch fish. I can't pass on my knowledge to anyone, because Mattimeo isn't interested in the warrior's steps." Matthias explained. "I guess it truly was Martin's will." Matthias said quietly. His ears twitched as he heard the heavy creaking of red wall's gates. Some visitors perhaps, or traders.

Matthias stood up from the bench. "Good Abbot, I think someone's coming into Redwall. Let's go make sure they aren't shady." Matthias teased with a small grin as he waited for his old time companion to get up.

~ At the gate ~

"Oh my! Crow's meat? I'd prefer to be eaten by maggots, then those gutless vermin with wings!" Festus snarled as he shook his fist, and then staggered slightly. Beleos rolled his eyes as he steadied Festus.

"Not the time, nor the place for such noble outbursts." Beleos said quietly, as he watched the wooden doors of Redwall open. Beleos waited until the doors were completely open before attempting to step inside. He just noticed that he looked a bit scruffy from the travels, and that he would definately not look like he wouldn't cause any trouble.

Festus walked in through the gates of the Redwall with a proud stride, barely being able to stand without Beleos's support. "Gentle Badger! May I speak with you, on a ground level? I do not like raising my voice, because it takes up more breath that I already owe to many of my enemies!" Festus joked.

"Yeah, debt that they have tried many times to have repaid mind you."
Beleos's said with a frown, as he shook his head.

[OOC: Sorry it took so long Kivuli. I've been busy. :(]

Abbot Mordalfus felt pity overcome him at the words of his friend. He knew Matthias was only trying to hide his disappointment of his son's indifference towards fighting. Before he could offer any words of consolement, his thoughts were interrupted by Matthias' next words. There was a visitor at Redwall!
The Abbot grinned again. He was pleased to see that Matthias had gotten over his sadness so quickly. He struggled to lift himself off the bench as the younger mouse tapped his foot impatiently. "Slow down you young scallawag! I'm not as young as I once was."
Together the two mice made their way slowly toward the Redwall entrance to greet their new visitor.

This time Constance was unable to hold back her laughter. She'd never met a pair of more peculiar creatures! Wiping an eye with a large blunt paw, she signaled for them both to wait there while she clambered down.
Upon reaching the bottom, the badger dusted off her fur and straightened herself up again. She crossed her paws matter-of-factly. "Alright, so what is it you two want again? Food and rest, huh? I'll to need to know your names if you're going to be staying here for a bit."
Constance looked up. She could see Matthias and the Abbot approaching in the distance. "Good day to you Father Abbot and Matthias," she called out to them. "We have two strangers here in need of our services."

"Strangers? Hopefully non hostile ones I'm hoping." Matthias joked as he walked up to the two other mice. He examined them, and already he could tell that there was a story behind them judging by how roughed up they were. Matthias wasn't one to judge however, as he smiled in a friendly manner. "Welcome to Redwall. I am Matthias." Matthias said with a nod of his head.

Beleos looked to the rather large badger as she spoke, then to the two new mice that joined the conversation. They looked peaceful enough, and he probably looked like he was chewed up, and spat out. "I uh...apologize for our rough looks right now. My friend and I haven't gotten time to spruce up before coming here." Beleos said quietly.

"The lady asked a question my dear boy! I suggest we answer it. I am Festus Adderbane, also known as Captain Festus." Festus said with a nod. "I'd give you a courtly bow, but I'm afraid I would snap my spine at this point." Festus said as he held onto Beleos's shoulder for support.

"I apologize again. I should have introduced myself first. I am Beleos. Beleos Longtail." Beleos said with a small bow of his head.

Matthias sighed in relief. They didn't sound as hostile as they looked. "Very well. I think you two need a change of cloths, some food, and I suppose plenty of sleep?" Matthias asked.

"Oh yes kind sir! Lots, and Lots!" Festus said with a moan of fatigue.

"I will not need much." Beleos murmured. "Could you lead our way to an area where my friend may rest?" Beleos asked politely.

"Of course. Constance, could you lead these two to two vacent rooms?" Matthias asked the aging badger.

The Abbot chuckled. "On behalf of the entire Abbey, I welcome you, Captain Festus and Belios Longtail. My name is Abbot Mordalfus and I am the abbot here at Redwall Abbey. This, as you just heard, is Matthias, and here is Constance, an old friend. Should you require any food or medical attention during your stay, you will find us only too happy to assist you. We are an order of peaceful mice and we only expect kindness and gratitude for our good services."
The Abbot paused to let his words sink in. "Ahem. You'll both be needing rooms. Constance, would you kindly show these two disheveled mice to the dormitories? he beckoned to the badger. Constance nodded. "Yes, follow me." she told them politely. She had decided these two newcomers weren't so bad after all.

Festus bowed his head in respect at the abbot, however Beleos refrained from doing so. He didn't think respect came with a title, and it must be earned. Festus already knew how headstrong and prideful Beleos was, so he did not speak up against Beleos's action.

Beleos followed after Constance eagerly, trying to avoid eye contact with as many creatures as he could. He was not usually around so many people, and it made him slightly uncomfortable. Beleos knew Festus wouldn't have the same problem, because Festus had lead armies to the battle grounds. Thousands, and thousands of creatures were on those war grounds.

Festus on the other hand took in the scenery as he walked into the abbey behind the badger mother. Everything was so tranquil, and peaceful. He could almost just let him self drop asleep right outside in the garden. "Such remarkable beauty. I have never seen such a marvelous abbey." Festus said quietly gazing at the old stone walls.

"Probably because any other abbeys you've seen have been ravaged by the noble war." Beleos pointed out. Festus nodded.

"Yes. War tends to tear things that are meant to be tranquil apart, and twists them into the exact opposite. Festus said quietly as he grazed the wall with his old paw.
