"I've been thinking that... that girl, Rosy... she looks like she would..." Jenna trailed off.

Steele looked at her. "Well, I hope someone finds you soon," he said as he walked off. Just then, the man who owned Jenna's parents came out and picked her up. "Come on, let's get you out of the cold," he said.

Jenna whined as she was picked up. If anyone came to adopt her, she wanted to be the first to see them.

The man rubbed the pup's head. "Don't worry, girl. I think you'll be adopted soon," he said.

Jenna licked the hand on her head.

Boris put his wing on his hip. "So, now what?"

Balto looked down sadly. They had looked everywhere for his mother and had not found her. "I guess I have to come with you," he said. He thought about it for a moment. "I can look for food in the area around us," he said.

"Well, I just eat seeds and grain... sometimes fish..." he said, "So I can do the foraging for me. But you are another story. You can do it, then?"

Balto finally smiled. "I can live off fish that wash up and small mammals that come along," he stated.

"There's a boy!" Boris said, delighted about the less work he'd have to do. "So, I think I can trust you to do what you wan and not die. Eh?"

Balto's little tail wagged and he smiled proudly. "Of course, Boris," he said.
