Who are they? This is going to be difficult to explain, but I'll try...
As you know, Nkosi is my version of the First King of the Pride Lands, who was mentioned in a comic called "A False Ancestor". In the Swedish version of the comic, the first king is said to be Simba's great-great-great-great-grandfather, and I've been going with this version. However, in the original German version, the first king is said to be Simba's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather... There are three "greats" too many.
So... I've decided to change my TLK family tree a bit. Okay, a lot.
So, who are these characters?
From left to right:
Hasani
He's a son of one of Nkosi's grandchildren (I haven't decided which one), and the third king of the Pride Lands. He views lions as the center of the universe, and believes that everything exists to fulfill their needs. However, he knows that he and his pride are dependent of the other creatures, and he tries to be a fair and just ruler. He has many sons, but they all die before reaching adulthood, so he has to choose his firstborn daughter as his heir.
Zarifa
She's Hasani's queen. She was born in a neighboring kingdom as the firstborn daughter of the king. Because she was a female, her father chose her younger brother to be the next ruler. Zarifa was betrothed to Hasani, the Prince of the Pride Lands. At first, Zarifa was excited to become queen, but soon she realized that her only purpose as Hasani's mate was to produce cubs. Zarifa is bitter towards her father, brother, mate and all male lions in the world... She is determined to make her firstborn daughter, Sanyu, the next ruler...
Sanyu
She's the firstborn daughter of Hasani and Zarifa. Her father chooses her as his heir after all her brothers have mystically died. She is betrothed to a prince of a neighboring kingdom, and after Hasani dies, she and her mate become the new rulers of the Pride Lands. Unfortunately, her mate dies before she gives birth to their son...
Kitunzi
He's Sanyu's son, and the fifth king of the Pride Lands. He's also Mohatu's father.
Safara
She's Kitunzi's queen, and Mohatu's mother.
