This is the process I take to do my drawings. First I sketch out my character. Then I do a lineart on a singe layer above the sketch. Then I do all of the base colors so that they each have a seperate layer for each color. After that I burn each of the colored layers and add a shadow set on Multiply for normal shadows or overlay for more expressive intense shadows. Finally I add the background and any other touches.
