[mlkfaa] - Iri's Album -> Flamefeather.png
I was just deleting a bunch of old, useless journal entries. And I re-read the art block one. I read Tacos' comment about making a new species... so I did!
This is a Flamefeather. They're any type of feline [EXCEPT for domestic housecats] that have flames that come from their paws. The Flamefeather species are always born with their claws out, which causes them to have their claws out. They can't retract their claws.
Not only that, they are always born with a minor flaw. Not anything major. Maybe a twisted back leg, a crooked tail, missing ear-tips, etc. But they also have one minor talent. Like maybe a Flamefeather has the ability to swim [if Flamefeathers are touched with water, they get wounded. If they are hit with enough water they can die], maybe they can jump higher than most, etc. Nothing ridiculous like five-inch-long metal claws, the ability to fly, etc.
They are given feathers when they do something for the good of their pack. Yes, they're called packs. Smilodon groups are called packs and Smilodons are felines, so yeah.
Often when a Flamefeather is a cub, they're given tiny feathers if they do small things like fetch prey from the meat pile for their seniors, if they gather near-growing herbs for their shamans and medics, etc.
When they're trainees, they are given medium-sized feathers when they do things like hunting mice, rats, rabbits, and small birds for their pack, cleaning out dens, and entertaining cubs if the mothers of the cubs are away.
Finally, as the Flamefeathers age into adults, they get large flight feather for hunting large game for their pack, protecting the cubs and seniors, fighting their hardest in a battle, etc. It's up to the leader of the pack to decide whether a feline in the pack is worthy enough to get a feather.
It's not like feathers are just little trinkets. To a Flamefeather, earning a feather is a huge honor. If a Flamefeather has earned many feathers, they are considered honorable felines. Sometimes, they even earn higher ranks.
A Flamefeather's feathers that he or she wears are the colors of its eyes. This Flamefeather has blue eyes, so her feathers are different shades of blue.
This Flamefeather is named Igneus, meaning "fire" in Latin. She is the leader of the Flamefeather pack.
A few more things.
If a Flamefeather is not behaving properly in their pack, Igneus can, and will, take feathers from them. If a Flamefeather loses too many feathers, they can be lowered by ranks. If they lose every feather they owned, they get kicked out of the pack, and they must prove themselves worthy to join again.
Igneus is the leader. Do not challenge her for her position, unless you'd like to be immediately kicked out.
You can have more than one Flamefeather. But try not to have more than four, because then it'll be difficult to keep track and all that.
You can make a Flamefeather of your own! Just credit me for the species name and send me a link of your Flamefeather. I'd love to see it!
Don't use unnatural colors. If your Flamefeather is pink and bright yellow, that's not really natural. If you say your Flamefeather is "blue" I will assume you mean bluish-grey, not indigo blue or turquoise blue. However, feel free for your Flamefeather to have any color eye you want.
I will design your Flamefeather for you if you don't want to do it yourself, or if you're too busy. Be very specific though!
The Flamefeathers never have any canine blood. So don't make your Flamefeather half cheetah and half wolf, or half tiger and half fox, please.
When you draw your Flamefeather, do not put too many feathers on it. If you draw your Flamefeather and you have fifty flight feathers on it, then that's not acceptable. If you draw it and it has no more than six or seven, then that's okay.
I believe that's all! Remember, Igneus is mine and she is the leader. I don't have subordinates yet. But let me list out the ranks: [By the way, don't have four characters that are all lieutenants.]
Leader
Lieutenants [there are two female lieutenants and two male lieutenants]
Hunters
Fighters
Guardians
Cubs
Trainees
Medics
Shamans
Okay, I think that covers it all. Phew, that description though... *has arms and hands aching*
Again, feel free to make your own as long as you credit me for the species.
Oh, wait! One more thing.
If you make one, don't make it have a warrior-cat name like Fireheart. Make it original, not a warrior-cat name, please.
Phew, NOW it's over. =P
