Yekize is the mother of Iri. She is very over-protective of Iri, because she is afraid of losing her (as Iri is small, the runt). She has three other cubs: Gamba, Chiku, and Hondo. (Hondo and Gamba's names both mean "warrior" and Chiku means "chatterbox")
Despite sometimes being overly cautious and over-protective of Iri, she loves all of her cubs equally and never compares them. She is very patient and gentle, but is ready to snarl at any animal that threatens her cubs. Yekize is willing to sacrifice herself for her cubs, as she loves them too much to lose them.
Yekize was banished from the Cloudy Skies pride, as she wanted to take the leader's brother as her mate, but the leader furiously refused, and exiled her forever. Yekize lived a year as a loner, having cubs forced on her by a rogue male.
Though she hated the rogue, she loved her cubs dearly and trained them patiently and affectionately. After her cubs were a bit stronger, she moved around and settled into another pride called the Flowing Stream Pride.
