Akil had to fend for herself at a young age. She taught herself how to hunt by copying other lionesses. She used to catch small prey until she became a teenager.
On a hunt as an early teenager, she crashed into Hodari whom she scratched, feeling angry and irritable as she hadn't eaten for a while.
Together they stayed, Akili doing the hunting and Hodari protecting her from other lions. She began to fall in love with him.
One day, they came across a lush green bit of savannah with a large rock structure wit a cave. They made it their ow and founded the Pridelands.
Soon after, Akili fell pregnant and gave birth to twin boys, although they were non-identical. She loved them with all her heart and raised them carefully using compassion and knowledge. When her cubs were teenagers themselves, she fell pregnant again and gave birth to a small female cub, whom she named Dogo.
When Jasiri and Nguvu were adults, Akili and Hodari knew they had to choose one of them to rule. They made a decision together and chose to have both of them ruling side by side. This didn't go down well as they both wanted to rule alone. They fought over the position. Jasiri won the fight and Nguvu ran away.
Akili was distraught. She hated fighting and her son was gone because of it. She tried to follow him, but found a lioness instead. She was alone so Akili brought her back to the Pridelands to become Jasiri's mate.
Akili watched her son rule with pride. Only when she knew the family would continue did she die, at 14 years, 4 years longer than an average lion. She became the first star in the sky and she watched over the Pridelands to care for her family.
