[mlkfaa] - Nadra's Album -> VitaniKiara.png
It had been several days since the death of Zira. The war was over, and the two prides were now one. Mothers and daughters were reunited, old friendships were rebuilt...
Vitani spent most of the time in a lone cave and distanced herself from others. She didn't really know any of the Pridelanders... What if they would hate her? She was Zira's daughter after all. Sure, she had turned against her mother eventually... Vitani still felt painful twinges of regret for betraying her mother like that. But in addition, she also regretted supporting Zira.
"You can't blame yourself for what Zira and Scar did", Kovu, Vitani's brother, had said.
Kovu didn't understand. He had always questioned Zira's ways. Always, even as a cub. The Pridelanders knew he was trustworthy, and besides, he was in very friendly terms with the king's daughter. But they didn't know Vitani, and no one had even tried to get to know her. Maybe it was better that way... It was better to be alone. Though secretly she wished to become part of the big happy family...
Vitani woke up from her thoughts when someone entered the cave. It was Princess Kiara. Vitani looked at her, worried. Had she done something wrong?
"Hi", Kiara greeted.
"So you are Vitani, Kovu's sister?"
"Y-yes, yes I am - I mean - Yes, Your Majesty...", Vitani stammered nervously.
Kiara chuckled.
"Please, call me Kiara. I hate being referred to as Your Majesty."
"Uh, ok! Sorry, Your Maj... Kiara."
Kiara smiled shyly.
"Umm... Well, I was wondering if you'd like to, you know, hang out sometime? Kovu told me that you're a talented hunter, and - well, I'm not too great at hunting, so..."
"I know, I saw you on your first hunt", Vitani smirked.
"Oh, you mean before you tried to roast me alive?" Kiara asked and raised an eyebrow.
Vitani was shocked.
"Y-you know about it? B-but how did you..."
"Kovu told me. Don't worry. It's in the past", Kiara said with an almost unbearably kind and understanding tone.
"You were manipulated by your mother. I think you were really brave to turn against her!"
"Umm... Thanks, I guess...", Vitani said, confused.
"So, what do you say?" Kiara asked.
"Wanna be friends? Maybe you could teach me to hunt?"
Vitani just stared her. Kiara's smile faded and turned into a sad expression.
"It's ok if you don't want to... It's just... I'm not used to having other girls my age around. I thought it'd be nice to be friends..."
"I didn't say I don't want to", Vitani said.
"But I don't understand why you would want to be around me. I nearly got you killed!"
"As I said, it's in the past. It doesn't matter anymore. Now, are you coming or not?"
Vitani hesitated for a moment. What could she lose? The princess was weird, but she seemed to be kind, and she really wanted to get to know Vitani.
"Ok, I'll come with you", Vitani smiled.
"Yay!" Kiara exclaimed and prodded Vitani with her paw.
"Tag, you're it!" she screamed and ran away.
Vitani watched her run with a mixture of surprise and amusement.
