Whew, my last art trade ... so glad my list is done! Was a really great time but that was a lot of trades, lol. :)

This one's Hasa for Magyk1 on DA!

Edit: Changed a few things thanks to some tips from Nyashia. :)

Awesomeness! :D
Am totally jealous of your background on this one Kohu! XD
Specially compared to my latest pic: http://www.mylionking.com/fan/art/Artis ... work=11484
Gonna be taking some tips from this one, if you're cool with that. Like layer methods, based on what I can see.

Well, I'm still working on my backgrounds too, so I'm not sure if I'm the best person to get tips from, lol. :)

The only big thing about yours I think is lighting - you have things a bit too saturated. The moon and your lighting is a bit too bright, while your shadows are a bit too dark (I wouldn't make them black).

And if you want to get a sense of distance, I'd fade out/blur maybe another layer of trees in back of the ones you have, and make those a color that fades more into the background. :)

Last, for stars - I would use a pinpoint brush rather than a 'star' brush. ^^ Real stars are just pinpricks of light if you look at them in the night sky! :)

But I like how you do have things layered (foreground, midground, background) - you have an appreciation for distance which adds a lot to the pic, I think. And I like the character's pose/perspective, it draws your attention to the moon immediately through the way the character is looking/positioned at.

They're certainly better than mine. XD

Okay, I shall try this. Ummm... what does a pinpoint brush look like, or is that the default? The biggest concern for mine really is the cliff-rock. It looks blek to me.

I sincerely appreciate ya givin' me some tips!
And out of... critiques I gotten. This one is my favourite. It's honest, tells the problems, but isn't rude. Polite I'd say.
So thanks a lot Kohu!

Sorry about the delay in replying! I haven't been logging on most places since I've been having major art block.

Pinpoint brush is usually just the default brush except set to very few pixels (1-5 pixels :)).

For the rock ... have you gone on DA and looked at some of the rock tutorials? They can sometimes give good tips. But I know how it is ... I actually still struggle with rock a lot. ^^; I'm still trying to do it so it looks like .. rock, rather than wood, lol.

No worries.

Okay! I'll try those next time I do a digital pic.

I actually like how yours look. It give the rock much more depth in my opinion. Okay, I'll see what I can come up with! :D
Thanks! ;)
