That is the the only view that shows Simba's ear-rims like that and it's because he's laying back and the back of his ear is getting "pushed" in front of the ear-rim. So it's really an illusion with what you're trying to explain :3
Nice try though, but it seems Kovu's rims are unique to him in the canon universe.

Yes ^^ I'm pretty torn with the idea. It makes sense in some ways, yet doesn't in others ^^ Still, it's a pretty fun idea to mess with ear styles & stuff :3
