The theme was to re-design a cover from any of the Lion King movies. I chose the original VHS cover to The Lion King. Everything on it seemed off. Size ratio, the characters didn't look like themselves, the art work wasn't the best in comparison to the wonderful movie, Etc. I could go on forever with all that bothered me.
So this is my design, something similar, yet very different. I always thought adult Simba was better on the cover then little baby Simba.
A lot of reference was obviously used as I wanted to get the characters as one point as possible.
I drew everything on this though, no custom brushes were used except for the mass rain. I'm getting better at rocks which makes me very happy ^^
