Mufasa took a deep breath and walked up to Ruia.
"Ruia, may I have a word with you, away from the Pridelands if you please."
The lioness nodded and the walked for while a ways, until Pride Rock was just a vague shape.
"What did you want to speak to me about Mufasa?"
He kept his gaze down on the path before him, trying to steady his nerves.
"Well, according to the law of the Pridelands, the crown prince is to marry and lioness he is betrothed to, typically a princess of another pride..and that our fathers arranged that for between you and I, as we are about the same age. While I have cared for you Ruia, I do not love you...and there is someone I love very much."

"Mufasa, say no more, I was never crazy about the idea of being yours anyway. No offense, but you are much more a friend then a love interest. We shall talk to our father's soon. But tell me, who is this lioness you have come to love?"

"That's another reason as to why I am so nervous...but your younger sister, Sarabi."

"Sarabi? Well, I'm only slightly shocked. I would have thought Sarafina was more your type."

Mufasa chuckled.
"Maybe when I was younger, but Sarabi stole my heart, and I want to make her my wife."

Ruia smiled and nuzzled his chin.
"Just take good care of my little sister.
