Chapter 1


Everything was black as the night sky. There was no sun at all. Everything had died, leaving only the dry cracks in the ground. It was only afternoon, and everything seemed as if the sun had dried out with everything else. The ground was a beige color. The only plants left were tiny little weeds sticking out of the cracks in the ground. It was a sorrowful world. Everyone didn't like the way the King treated everyone. For King Kisira was the meanest and most selfish Kings of the Pride Lands there ever was. Everyone believed that it was the way he grew up. Being rejected by his parents, having no friends. But if anyone spoke of his past in front of his face, they were sure to get slapped hard by his big powerful paws. Dark had made that mistake before. He was only a young cub, and didn't know any better. One day he had asked what pride Kisira came from. Kisira has keen hearing, so he can hear anything that was whispered. When he heard what Dark had said, he went over and gave him a big slap, sending Dark sliding on his side. It had given him a scar as well. That was the only thing that Dark has ever regretted in his life. Asking the royal ruler where he came from.


Dark eyed the ground as he listened to his parents sore their breath away. It was morning in the Pride lands, and everyone was asleep but him. Dark had never gotten sleep in forever. How could he sleep when he knew that he was going to be exiled soon? The king ordered exile over anyone who dis-obayed him in the past. Dark had made that mistake for sure. He yawned, streached, and got up and walked out of the small cave, as to not awaken anybody. He looked out at the sky and sighed. Still dark, no sun as always. How could he live his life this way? When it was better days, the sun was always out. Thanks to the new king, it hid away and shut itself out of the world, as if it had never belonged. Dark sighed once more, and walked out into the dark depressing land. How could this be? Was this all a dream? Dark had questions flooding in his head, but his father had banished him from asking such stupid questions. Dark looked down at his paws while he walked. He watched the dust blow from underneath his paws, with each step he took. Even now the weeds in the ground were begging to wilt and die. Everything died here. The food and water was scarce, as was all the greens. The big river hadn't dried out yet. Everyone prayed that it would never die. That was the only thing they had to keep themselves alive. Dark sat down on the dusty ground. He twitched his nose, as the dirt swayed up into his nose. He sniffed, and lay his head down on his paws. What a miserable day... Dark thought to himself. Everything gone.. no color..nothing. How can the others live this way? Dark didn't understand it. Soon he jerked his head up, hearing a huge roar. Dark cocked his head over to Pride Rock.
TESNI!!!!!!!!! King Kisira yelled. Dark put his head back on his paws. He knew that today was going to be one regular day. Scary, sad, and depressing.
