Kayla stocked about near the cliffside.

Conal was bolting along the cliffside when he spots a lioness in the very far distance as he comes to a skidding halt; hoping he wasn't going to be seen.

Kayla observed the lion as he bolted along the cliffside. She said nothing as she observed him. She jumped down from her perch.

Conal gets down real low and tries to back into higher grass.

"Oh no.." Conal whispers to himself

Kayla slowly approaches the young lion without saying a word and greeting only with an ominous glare. He darted to the grass.

Conal stops lets out a small growl as a "stay back", claws still retracted and still staying low.

Kayla again says nothing and continues to approach the lion who is visibly growing more and more desperate.

(Which one do you prefer: Conal loses his balance and dangles from the edge or he tries to jump the other edge and begs for help?)

Conal backs a small amount more and feels his back paws step on steeper ground and notices he's right at the edge of the cliff.
He looks down the cliff and back at the lioness who had basically had him blocked off.

(Uhh, might just jump for it, we'll see how it goes.)

Kayla observes the lion. She notices him bending his fore legs and back legs, indicating that he was either about to hurl himself off or attempt to jump to the other side.

Out of pure desperation and adrenaline, Conal quickly lets his claws come out and turns and takes a big leap in an attempt to reach the other side of the cliff. Which wasn't far enough that nobody could make it, but due to the quick jump without much momentum he doesn't land the jump and he digs his claws into the side of the cliff hanging on the best he possibly could.
